Life as a Tower Maid: Locked up with the Prince - Side Story 13
Side Story 13

—
Under Albert’s rule, the empire was enjoying a golden age.
While Adela was growing up, a lot happened around Jung-in and Albert’s circle.
Mercy subtly revealed her feelings to Schubert and finally won his heart after five years of effort—Jung-in shed genuine tears for her.
Liam became quite close friends with Seo Ina.
Instead of a romantic relationship, they shared conversations about the best places to eat, and Liam became more passionate about Korean cuisine than anyone else.
While fulfilling his duties as a duke, he often traveled across the empire to meet Seo Ina, who was making a name for herself as a chef, and they embarked on culinary adventures together.
Surprisingly, their tastes in food were quite similar.
Everyone seemed brighter than before, so Jung-in didn’t regret that their memories had vanished at all.
Seeing their unshadowed faces, she often thought that she and Albert had made the right choice.
Although the past had changed, everyone’s character was as she remembered.
Yet, she couldn’t help but feel a bit lonely.
Mercy always maintained a respectful distance, Schubert never spoke informally, and she rarely saw Liam. She missed the moments when everyone had opened their hearts to her.
Even if those moments no longer existed, they were eternal in her memory.
In late autumn, as winter approached, Jung-in invited Mercy to a tea party with Adela and Blanc.
They all had a relatively enjoyable time. Mercy seemed much more relaxed, and Jung-in’s eyes sparkled.
‘Now’s my chance.’
Despite her confidence that she could quickly restore her old relationship with Mercy, they still maintained a distance.
Mercy continued to address her as ‘Your Majesty the Empress’ and rarely shared her personal stories.
Except for occasionally seeking advice about her relationship with Schubert.
Mercy was clearly overjoyed about her upcoming first date with Schubert, and Jung-in seized the moment to suggest,
“Mercy, how about calling me ‘Sister’ now?”
The coveted ‘Sister’ title Jung-in had been eyeing was immediately dismissed.
“Ack, how could I dare, Your Majesty?”
Jung-in inwardly shed tears.
‘It’s true that time doesn’t solve everything.’
She might have overlooked the fact that Mercy’s personality had changed over time. Jung-in sighed deeply.
Noticing Jung-in’s mood, Mercy stood up, realizing she had slightly dampened the atmosphere.
“Then, I’ll take my leave!”
With a lively voice, Mercy bowed deeply to Jung-in.
She then turned to Adela, smiling widely and waving at her.
Even as an archmage with magic comparable to Albert’s, she couldn’t help but be cute.
Especially with her black hair tied in pigtails like today!
“Bye bye, Adela.”
“Bye bye, Mercy.”
Adela waved back, answering in a clear voice.
Moments later, Adela pouted as she looked at her empty plate and quickly turned her head towards Blanc, who was sitting next to her.
“I want more cookies.”
“…Can’t you use your magic to get some?”
Knowing Adela’s abilities, Blanc cautiously suggested.
Adela’s eyes widened, and she began to tremble as if Blanc had betrayed her.
“How could you say that…”
Blanc let out a deep sigh. This reaction meant Adela would stay angry until her demand was met.
Adela particularly enjoyed bossing him around, considering his presence as natural as breathing.
It might have started when Blanc first called her by her name.
…And Blanc himself was always particularly soft towards this child.
“Adela, you shouldn’t treat Blanc that way. And we agreed to call him Wight in the palace, remember?”
“But Mom calls him Blanc… And I like Blanc better…”
Adela muttered in response to Jung-in’s gentle scolding, though she glanced at Jung-in, feeling guilty for not following her words. Jung-in narrowed her eyes.
Blanc, looking between the two of them, inwardly called out for Albert.
‘I miss you…’
Albert had left to personally prepare Adela’s birthday present, which would be in a week.
Blanc never thought he would find himself missing Albert.
Eventually, Blanc stood up.
“What flavor should I bring back…”
“Blanc, it’s okay. Sit down.”
“No, it’s fine…”
Blanc shook his head at Jung-in’s words. Next to him, Adela raised her hand and firmly declared.
“Chocolate.”
Adela’s preference was clear. Blanc trudged away.
Jung-in smiled faintly as she listened to Blanc and Adela. He always gave in like that.
Blanc was softer on Adela than even she or Albert.
