Chapter 28.1

The Countess’s voice was heavy, as if she was announcing the danger of the Duchy of Solem.

Without much hesitation, Ariel followed her words. When she heard about the deaths that occurred every year, she had already given up on going to the Duchy of Solem. She had no intention of risking her life to make a connection between Racine.

Ariel stepped out into the reception room.

She visited after inquiring about the fact that she hadn’t received the aptitude test results, but neither the Imperial Palace nor the Crown Prince had responded yet. While the attendant told her to wait, it wasn’t an order. So, even if she were to leave now, she had an excuse.

She walked carefully down the corridor. There was hardly any sign of presence until she reached the stairs.

As she checked her phone intermittently, Ariel studied the building layout and the locations of her targets. Racine was still stationary in the reception room on the third floor. Despite the fact that Skylar was on the second floor, he wasn’t leaving the reception room either, so the risk of encountering him was minimal.

It was the moment Ariel had optimistically anticipated.

Suddenly, Skylar’s portrait began to move.

Skylar left the reception room and entered the corridor. His movement headed toward the stairs without hesitation.

The text on the system window changed, indicating that Skylar was approaching.

Ariel’s eyes turned towards the white stairs nearby.

From the direction leading upstairs, faint sounds of footsteps in shoes were heard before they grew louder. It echoed through the marble of the staircase.

If things continued like this, she would come face to face with him without any chance to avoid it.

Slowly, she stepped back.

Ariel, taking a step backward, immediately turned her body as she entered the corridor. She walked briskly as if she were running and ran away in a hurry. When she checked her phone the next moment, she could see that Skylar’s portrait was constantly moving. His portrait descended the stairs and entered the corridor.

Coincidentally, it was the same path she had just taken.

It was strange.

‘…Is he following me?’
