I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 97
Chapter 97
“…What?” Flustered, I blurted out a question.
“Is there a problem?”
“Oh, no.”
Judging by his previous demeanor, I hadn’t expected any cooperation.
Hiding my surprise, I spoke calmly, “Thank you, Butler.”
“Then, please ask your questions freely. I will tell you anything within my power to answer.”
“Then… as I asked earlier, please tell me how to proceed to the next chapter.”
“I cannot tell you that.”
“What?”
“I said I cannot tell you that.”
“But you just said you’d answer anything.”
“To be precise, I said I would tell you anything within my power to answer. Your recent question falls outside of that scope.”
‘He sounds like a customer service bot.’
“Then, why haven’t I received any missions since arriving here?”
“I cannot tell you that either.”
‘Nothing is working! Cooperation? He’s a total fraud!’
“What can you tell me?”
“That is a question you must consider, Heyna.”
I snapped at Pulse, who seemed to be waiting expectantly for another question.
“Forget it. I have nothing more to ask, so you can leave.”
I’d hoped for willing cooperation, but not this. I doubted I’d get any useful information by continuing to question him. I needed to send Pulse away and discuss our next steps with Zion and Tommy. I hadn’t gained any useful information, but…
‘If the three of us brainstorm, we might find a way to get information out of Pulse.’
“Very well. Should you have further inquiries, please do not hesitate to call me.”
Pulse, having finished his farewell, turned to leave, then hesitated and turned back.
“I will offer you a hint.”
“What? A hint?”
“Yes. I have unintentionally offended you, so as an apology, I will share a piece of important information.”
Important information?
I held my breath, waiting for Pulse’s next words.
“All information regarding the third floor is recorded in the guidebook. If you wish to remain comfortable and safe here, I implore you to adhere to the guidelines within.”
“Wait, is that all?”
“Yes. I have nothing further to add. Now, if you’ll excuse me. I wish you a peaceful time.”
‘He said he’d give me a hint!’
I should have known better. False hope.
I’d expected something important, but all he offered was to follow the guidebook.
“Back to square one,” I muttered.
As soon as Pulse left, Zion, with a smile, needled me. “What shall we do now, Heyna? It seems we can’t get any more information from… him.”
Zion avoided using the title “Butler,” worried Pulse might overhear.
So, what were we going to do?
“For now… let’s go to the library and see if there’s any useful information there.”
Since Pulse was unhelpful, the library was our only remaining option.
‘I already checked all the books about Clarence Mansion yesterday…’
Still, I might find something I missed.
“Let’s do that. Tommy, you come along today, too.”
“What? No way. I hate libraries.”
“Is that so? Then it can’t be helped.”
Zion, surprisingly agreeable, smiled and extended a hand to me. “Shall we go, Heyna? Let’s spend time together like yesterday.”
“Uh, yeah. Okay.”
One minute he was teasing, the next he was inviting me on a date—as if the library were a romantic destination. His mood swings were dizzying. The thought of spending another whole day in the library with Zion made my head throb.

“Hiccup.”
“….”
“Hiccup, hiccup.”
“…Sigh.”
Dekir, who had been diligently ignoring Rose’s sniffling since she woke up, finally let out a deep sigh.
‘How long is she going to keep doing that?’
He recalled the events of early that morning. Rose had gone out around two a.m. and returned shortly after—or rather, she had been dragged back in. Rose, covered in blood, was completely entangled in black vines. Despite the copious amount of blood staining her clothes, her body was unmarked, not even a scratch.
‘That thing’s doing.’
“Aaaaaah! Help me—! No!”
Rose screamed, her eyes unfocused, clawing at the floor. As she was fully pulled into the room, the black vines detached and slithered back into the darkness. Oblivious to her disappearance, she continued to scream. Dekir frowned, about to cover his ears, when—
“Dekir?”
Finally noticing him, Rose crawled towards him, her face pale, and clutched his leg.
“Help, me. Monster, monster…!”
Her face was a mess of tears and blood. Seeing her half-panicked and unable to speak properly, Dekir felt…
‘Annoyed.’
He wasn’t worried about her in the slightest. He was merely disgusted by her blood staining his clothes and irritated by her ear-splitting cries. He wanted to clamp her mouth shut.
That was all.
Dekir was endlessly callous to anyone who wasn’t Heyna. He had no interest in Rose’s injuries or what had happened to her. Just as he was about to roughly push her away, he remembered something.
“Dekir, I have a question.”
“You said you threatened Rose when you two were alone earlier. Is that true?”
He had nearly been misunderstood by Heyna because he’d pushed Rose away when they were alone. He had managed to smooth things over then with a disingenuous compliment—”I was nervous being with such a pretty lady”—because Rose was so frivolous and simple-minded. However…
