“I’ll have a beautiful dress and jewelry custom-made for you…” I couldn’t bring myself to say anything to Rose as she happily painted this picture of the future. How could I tell her that I wouldn’t be able to share that future with her? That I wasn’t really Heyna, and that I belonged to a different world?

Feeling a pang of sadness, I stared at the floor…

“Huh? Isn’t that Tommy?” Rose suddenly pointed at something.

‘Tommy?’ I followed her gaze, but there was nothing there.

“Where’s Tommy?” Rose rubbed her eyes, then exclaimed,

“There! Right there!”

I rubbed my eyes too, but Tommy was nowhere to be seen.

“Hey! Tommy!” Rose called out, even waving her hand, as if she could actually see him.

“Dekir, can you see him?”

“No. I can’t see Mr. Tommy either.”

“What? You both need to look harder! He’s right there… huh?” Rose pointed again at the empty, dark hallway.

“Tommy! Where are you going?!” Frustrated that we couldn’t see what she was seeing, Rose frowned and said urgently,

“Heyna, come on, let’s go after him!” Before I could respond, Rose hiked up her dress and ran off.

“Wait, Rose!” Chasing after the invisible Tommy, Rose vanished into the shadows of the hallway in the blink of an eye.

“Rose—!” My voice echoed down the hallway.

“Where are you, Rose—! Answer me if you can hear me!” No matter how much I called, there was no reply.

This was driving me crazy. I had finally found Rose, only to lose her again.

Where could she have gone? The hallway stretched endlessly. There were no rooms nearby, not even any decorations to hide behind. Rose had disappeared in mere seconds in this barren corridor.

“Do you think Ms. Rose went into Mr. Tommy’s dream? Like we went into Ms. Rose’s dream?”

“Tommy’s dream…”

It made sense. I had followed Rose’s apparition down the hallway and entered her dream. Rose could have done the same, following Tommy’s apparition into his dream.

But there was one thing I didn’t understand.

“If that’s the case, why couldn’t Dekir and I see Tommy?” Neither Dekir nor I had seen him. Only Rose had.

“That’s probably because…” Dekir paused, seemingly deep in thought, then spoke hesitantly.

“I think it’s because Mr. Tommy likes Ms. Rose.”

“What?”

“I didn’t want to say anything earlier because you seemed so frantic… but I couldn’t see Ms. Rose either when you were calling her and running after her.”

“Yes. And it was the same in Ms. Rose’s dream. I couldn’t see her until you pointed her out to me.”

“…Ah!” I had been holding Dekir’s hand when I chased after Rose.

“I think you’re right, Dekir.” If Tommy subconsciously harbored feelings for Rose, and only allowed her to enter his dream…

“Will it be alright…?”

“Yes, it will be fine.” The warmth of his hand in mine eased my anxiety.

“I’m still worried. Rose… dislikes Tommy, you know.” Dekir’s eyes widened at my earnest words, as if I had said something outrageous.

“Why are you looking at me like that, Dekir? Did I say something strange?”

“Huh…? No. I’m just a little surprised. Heyna, do you really think Ms. Rose dislikes Mr. Tommy?”

“Yes. Doesn’t she?”

Tommy liked Rose. He had developed feelings for her earlier than in the original story. But Rose didn’t reciprocate. In the game, and even now, Rose didn’t have romantic feelings for Tommy. She cared for him, as she did for everyone, because she was so kind… but her feelings weren’t the same as his.

“Heyna, just to be sure… why do you think Mr. Tommy appeared in Ms. Rose’s dream?”

“Because, like you said… she thinks of him as a knight? Because he has a strong, knightly image.”

Silence hung in the air. After a long pause, Dekir put his hand to his forehead and chuckled. It wasn’t his usual hearty laugh, but a dry, almost humorless sound.

“Heyna… you can be a bit clueless sometimes.”
