I Picked Up the Trash Others Threw Away - Chapter 8.1
Chapter 8.1
The carriage quickly entered the street where the boutique was located.
It was a place where I had never been able to step in because the Delphonie barony couldn’t afford to buy anything there.
Trendy and colorful dresses were hanging in the store window, sparkling and overwhelming the people outside. As I looked around with a curious face like someone coming to the city for the first time, Trish openly laughed at me.
“Have you never been to a place like this before? Don’t act like a country bumpkin and follow me.”
“Yes, yes.”
I grabbed Trish’s hand and followed him to the boutique as he led me.
In a large store with three floors, women’s, men’s, and children’s clothes were displayed in mannequins in each window.
How much were the dresses sold in a place like this? Trish took a familiar step into the boutique and waved at the lady inside.
“Madame, it’s been a while.”
“Oh my, Sir Trish. Hello. The lady next to you…”
The woman he called Madame turned her gaze to me. She then greeted me with a mysterious smile.
“I’ve never seen this lady before. Did you come here today to see clothes for her?”
“That’s right. You know my style, right? Please prepare clothes for her according to my preference.”
“Yes, we’ll escort you to the parlor. Lady, this way. Shall we get your measurements first?”
One of the staff took Trish to the parlor, and the Madame led me to the dressing room.
Walking through the hallway to the dressing room, I looked at the beautiful interior and let out a low exclamation.
How many nobles came here to buy dresses and accessories, that the boutique was as fancy as a party venue in a novel?
The dressing room where the Madame took me was an enclosed space with walls on all sides, so no one could look inside. I didn’t think even the sound of my voice could be heard from outside.
Closing the door with a click, the Madame looked at me with a slightly worried face as if she hadn’t been smiling before.
“Young Lady, how did you meet such a man? You look so innocent.”
“…”
No matter who it was, everyone worried about me first instead of Trish. I wondered how much of a bad reputation this man had.
But don’t worry, Madam. It’s him you have to worry about, not me.
“I met him to use him.”
“Sorry?”
“Madame, please prepare clothes for me with the most expensive dresses you have.”
It was my belief that once you bite the meat, you should never let go. I vowed to rob him of all his money today.

“So… is this the price of the dress?”
Trish asked, barely swallowing a curse.
He had curiously thought about buying me a dress or two, but his hands trembled when he saw the bill that far exceeded his expectations.
“Oh, because I heard that you’re meeting each other seriously with marriage in mind… Or should I bring some other dresses?”
The other dresses were cheap dresses, different from the best one she had brought.
They might look similar from a distance, but upon closer inspection, the fabric used was cheap, and they were noticeably less sparkly and had a sloppy finish.
Trish bought dresses worth that much for most of the women he had met so far, so of course, he thought she would bring such a dress again.
‘No wonder it looked more glamorous today.’
He thought the dress looked more luxurious because she was so modest.
He couldn’t believe he had fallen for such a shallow trick. Trish bit his lips silently.
“Is something wrong?”
Watching the scene from a distance, I tilted my head, pretending not to know.
The dresses that the Madame brought were all sparkly and colorful because they were of superior quality. The overused frills and lace also had small jewels attached to the hem. It was natural for it to cost such a large amount because it was a garment made with expensive fabrics and jewels rarely seen in the baron’s family.
Even though I asked her to bring me some of the most expensive clothes in this boutique, I also felt shaky when I saw the dresses which I couldn’t even imagine the price.
If he told her to bring another dress in this situation, it would be nothing short of humiliation to show that he was not in a position to pay for it.
If he bought me an expensive dress because of his pride, the benefit would be mine. I’d wear it for a while and sell it later.
Trish seemed hesitant about the Madame’s suggestion for a moment, but smiled as if he had never been embarrassed and returned the bill to her.
“Charge it to the Malekiah family.”
