I Picked Up the Trash Others Threw Away - Chapter 27.2
Chapter 27.2
‘Come to think of it, I haven’t stopped by the casino since I made that deal with Seraph.’
I got a business card asking me to become the new dealer at the Moonlake casino, but I didn’t contact him since I thought it would be complicated if I got involved with the casino before getting married.
But right now? The ceremony was out of the way, so I thought I could contact him at least once.
I could dream of independence with the money I earned in return for winning a bet, but I wouldn’t be able to live on the money I received forever. I could earn a lot of money while working as a casino dealer, and even if it has some risks, it would be good to understand the flow of the aristocratic society.
‘Still, safety comes first, so let’s think about it a little more.’
When I was done eating, I pulled the rope to call the servants.
While the servants came in and busily started preparing a bath, Trish said he would go out first and left the room.
As I lay in a bathtub filled with warm water and quietly surrendered myself to the hands of the servants, one of them, who had been staring at me quietly, slowly spoke to me.
“Young Lady, aren’t you uncomfortable?”
“Yes, I’m fine.”
“Tell me if there is anything you need.”
“Thank you. What’s your name?”
“I’m Monet. Please speak comfortably to me. The Young Lady is also a member of Count Malekiah’s family now.”
“R-right.”
I had known the people in the Delphonie mansion for a long time so I could speak casually with them, but I felt awkward when I tried doing it with the new servants.
‘It was comfortable when I took Sarah with me.’
Could I really not bring Sarah to the Malekiah mansion? The environment and treatment would be much better here.
She said that she was satisfied with a quiet, decent work life and a decent salary, but it would be better to get a letter of recommendation while pursuing a career here rather than sticking with a barony that could be ruined at any moment.
I had to stop by the Delphonie mansion to pick up my luggage anyway, so I thought I would tell her then. I needed at least one person close to me to be my eyes and ears.
After finishing the bath, the servants brought a dress that Count and Countess Malekiah had given me as a gift to celebrate my wedding.
The bright yellow fabric used was simple but beautiful, and there were golden topaz jewels—the symbol of the Malekiah family—everywhere on the dress, glistening whenever they were illuminated.
They raised my dark blue hair and tied it up, revealing my white, long neck and making it look prettier.
Monet hung the diamond necklace I had received as a wedding gift on my neck.
“You look even more beautiful all dressed up, Young Lady.”
“I can see why Young Master Trish fell in love. You’re so pretty!”
I just smiled at the compliments the servants gave me.
However, as per the saying that good clothes enhance the image of a person, I could feel my hidden beauty shining when I wore a dress that wasn’t at all like those I used to wear.
“Now, you should go greet the Count and the Countess first. Then, I’ll introduce you to the mansion’s servants, Young Lady.”
As I followed the instructions of Monet and the other servants and came to the hallway outside the bedroom, I saw Trish, who I thought had left, leaning against the wall while waiting for me.
“You took a long time.”
“Did you wait all this time?”
Trish looked at the clock and nodded.
Then when he looked at the servants who came out with me, he put a smile on his expressionless face and answered with a peculiar, sweet voice that he only used when dealing with women.
“What’s so hard about waiting? In fact, I didn’t even wait long. I was taking a walk in the garden for a while, thinking about which flower would suit you.”
“Oh my, that’s so romantic.”
“You must be happy, Young Lady.”
The servants spoke in a joyful voice as if they had completely fallen for Trish’s attitude, but I felt uneasy by his disgusting act.
But what could I do? We had promised to show we were a couple completely head over heels with each other in front of others.
“I’m happy with anything Trish gives me. Are there any blue roses that resemble your eyes?”
“I would love to make those roses for you, but unfortunately, I can’t right now. I’ll fill the house with beautiful freesias next time I stop by the flower shop.”
“A flower that smells like you? I’m really looking forward to it.”
What was this? It was like we were trying to compete on who could say the most disgusting thing.
Trish and I walked away, throwing contempt mixed with laughter at each other. But was it just me or did the servants’ gaze on our backs feel particularly burdensome?
