The surroundings were dark, but there was a single faintly glowing path. There was clearly no one and nothing, yet the space continuously whispered.

– What are you, what are you…

– You’ve made a pact with the devil, haven’t you?

– If you come here, you can have what you desire…

Some of the words were incredibly tempting, but I ignored them and continued following the monsters. Whether the monsters couldn’t hear these words due to their lack of intelligence or simply didn’t care, they didn’t stop.

The path was narrow, so I had no choice but to follow, and at the end of it stood Bald Castle.

“Go. Go and kill the humans you like.”

After driving the monsters away, I teleported to the location where the mirror was.

The passage I had used earlier was sinister, the kind of place that could paralyze a person’s mind. It was like the whispers of a devil promising to grant your wish.

I retrieved the mirror, placed them at Prete Castle, and then teleported straight into the midst of the swarming Southern Empire army.

My priority was to provoke the Southern Emperor in Bald Castle and bring him out.

Even if I released monsters into the castle, it would be useless unless I let them take action.

“Die!”

As expected, the Southern Emperor appeared. He suddenly materialized in front of me and immediately started cursing.

“You filthy devil’s contractor!”

“Are you not tired of this? If you want to insult me, at least try to do it creatively.”

The Southern Emperor, who had grown pale again, bit his lip and attempted to attack.

He was clearly weaker now. At this rate, I thought he might just die on his own if left alone.

“You dirty bastard!”

However, the force with which he swung his sword was still strong. If I waited for him to die, our army and the Southern Empire’s troops would all perish.

Those blessed by God is resilient, after all.

“Die, die, die!”

“Why don’t you die, you fool.”

I said it so indifferently, but the Southern Emperor huffed as if greatly insulted.

Euseniel, this guy is stronger than I expected. I almost got caught off guard, but the training with you really helped.

I’m happy that the time I spent getting beaten by you was worthwhile.

Ah, Euseniel has been curious about this guy’s age. As far as I know, he was born a few years earlier than me, but he’s been in an adult form for quite a long time, right?

“Then why do you still look the same even after receiving the blessing?”

“You bastard!”

How dumb does he think I am? Did he think I wouldn’t know this much?

…Actually, I heard about this from Euseniel’s old magic teacher, so I just threw the question out there to see.

“Is that age range Lux’s taste?”

It was a completely careless remark.

But even as the Southern Emperor’s sword scraped my chest, he just stared at me, unable to retaliate.

“Hahaha!”

The devil and god can only influence this world indirectly through their earthly agents.

Unlike the devil, who has limitations when stepping onto the mortal realm, Lux, the God of Light, can manifest in the physical world.

“Did you get tangled up with Lux?”

“You…!”

Ah, seeing his reaction, it seems I’m right.

“Lux is cruel.”

I had completely seized the upper hand.

Ah, if only Eusenial was here, she would have used that unpleasant sword of hers to stab this guy.

“Ah, so Lux took away your right to see the future? Were you jealous?”

I knew that Lux wasn’t exactly sane, but I hadn’t expected it to be this bad.

There’s a guardian dragon, and the reason that guardian doesn’t unconditionally oppose the devil is for a reason.

“Did you, with your condition, try to take a wife? Did you plan on killing Euseniel?”

“That woman won’t die. She’s the child of prophecy!”

Prophecy.

That’s something I don’t know about.

“Ah, you’re really annoying.”

Instead of asking about the prophecy, the impulse to kill this man surged up in me.

How many exchanges did we have? Suddenly, the Southern Emperor turned around.

“What?”

He wasn’t the type to be distracted during a fight, but he allowed me to injure him. I stabbed him near the shoulder, but instead of counterattacking, he twisted his sword and pulled away.

It must have hurt, but he didn’t even grunt and disappeared with a teleportation spell.

“Ugh.”

Did he finally realize what was happening around Bald Castle?

“Damn!”

He disappeared after cursing, but I didn’t bother to chase him. Now, I just needed to take care of the Southern Empire’s insane soldiers.

I grabbed the reins of the wandering horse that had lost its master and mounted it.

“Drive the Southern Empire out!”

“Waahhh!”

I raised the black sword high, and the soldiers responded.

The scent of blood filled the vast land, awakening the devil’s instincts in me, but I held back, thinking of Euseniel . She will return soon.

In the meantime, I had to cross the mountains, cross the Senne River, and take Bald Castle.

Once I stood at the top of Bald Castle, I would welcome Euseniel and then kill that damn Southern Emperor.

If the Southern Empire calls more soldiers with their mirror, we can just do the same. We’ll call more monsters. Since we have the same weapons, there’s no need to be afraid anymore.

“Let’s go!”

I marched forward, stomping on the overly clean and disgustingly white armor.

* * *

“Oh? Is this a new sword? Even if you change swords, don’t you still know that I won’t die?”

“Even if it doesn’t work, I have to try.”

When I responded with feigned tension, the Southern Emperor laughed coldly.

“Euel really has no fear. Trying to face me alone.”

“I’ve heard I’m brave quite often.”

I answered casually, and the Southern Emperor laughed loudly. Then, suddenly, he became serious and asked.

“Euel, don’t you really want to be my bride?”

“Why is Your Majesty proposing such a thing when you hate me? I don’t think it’s just because I’m half-elf.”

“Oh, you saw through me?”
