I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 251
“The Southern Emperor’s magic is faintly lingering, and I was wondering if we could find traces of it on the prince. If we can, it might help us uncover the arrangement of the spell written on the mirror.”
“I’ll let the soldier know as we go.”
After escorting Weathering to the underground prison, I immediately went to meet the Chancellor. He listened to my story, then stroked his chin thoughtfully.
“I don’t know of a case that matches exactly, but perhaps the Fairy King might know.”
“They are the children of light, but would they know how to harm someone blessed by the God of Light?”
“The fairies, being children of light, are neutral in nature. They are sometimes referred to as ‘Guardians of the Promise.’ They possess traits similar to dragons.”
“Ah, I see. Thank you.”
Having been there before, it felt much easier the second time.
Tess seemed anxious.
After hearing the Southern Emperor’s curse that the rampage wouldn’t stop, he became significantly subdued. His reaction was not like someone who knew the situation.
Given it was the Southern Emperor’s words, I told Tess to disregard it, but his response was too serious to ignore.
“I need to go back quickly…”
The Southern Emperor had left not only physical damage but also mental scars.
“Damn it.”
The harsh words slipped out, but I couldn’t hold back. The Southern Emperor was of no help, really.
After my meeting with the Chancellor, I went to fetch Weathering from the underground prison.
“Kugh.”
“Weathering!”
As soon as I entered the cold underground prison, I heard a groan and rushed over.
“Oh my god.”
The prince stood up, holding a bloody weapon, while Weathering staggered, clutching his abdomen.
I immediately threw the laughing prince to the ground and helped Weathering, who couldn’t move properly.
“Oh my god.”
I quickly called for the guard.
“What happened?!”
“Bring a high-ranking wizard and a doctor immediately! Also, a priest!”
Weathering was quickly carried away, and I subdued the prince. I had the guards gag him to prevent further words.
“Did you not inspect the prince’s body?”
“We, we did, but he’s royalty…”
His words trailed off, indicating they hadn’t done a thorough search.
It seemed the guards in the underground prison, stationed in such a lowly post, hadn’t fully understood the gravity of the situation.
I read the prince’s memory, but during his time in prison, there was no special contact, and it seemed whatever happened had occurred before he was locked up.
After taking care of the matter, I headed toward the Magic Tower.
The high-ranking wizard who had stayed behind was handling Weathering, but her face was grim.
“What about the Senior Wizard? How is he?”
“The bleeding is too severe, and there’s damage to his internal organs. He has no chance.”
After a brief pause, she added another thought.
“However, if there is a maternal blood relative, he might be able to heal.”
“A maternal blood relative?”
“Even now, because of the special properties in his blood, the bleeding is somewhat contained. The property is from his maternal side.”
“So, if there is such a thing, it could help with the healing of the wounds, but…”
I think I understand why the wizard is hesitating.
Officially, Baroness Blest is dead. Even if she were alive, she wouldn’t be of much help.
“So, if it’s from the maternal side, meaning from Wizard Blest’s mother’s bloodline, it would work, right?”
“In theory, yes. The recovery speed would depend on the concentration of the blood.”
The damn prince caused quite a mess.
“Damn it.”
The harsh words slipped out of my mouth without thinking.
I always believed it was better for someone to reveal their own secrets, but now it looks like I’m going to have to expose it. But right now, I’m in no position to care about such things.
I went to the Chancellor’s office, where I had been just a little while ago.
“Chancellor, I’ve come with a request.”
“Oh, what is it? Please, tell me.”
Despite the late hour, the Chancellor greeted me warmly, and I went straight to the point.
“Would you be able to help Lantia’s bloodline for the sake of the Northern Empire?”
“I don’t really want to, but it seems I have no choice. Would you explain why?”
“A senior wizard who is on an important mission is at risk of being killed by the prince, and we need the Chancellor’s blood for treatment.”
As I explained the situation surrounding the prince’s actions, the Chancellor’s expression darkened. He immediately agreed to help with Weathering’s treatment.
“And Prince Cardo.”
I informed the Chancellor of my decision, which I had made on my own.
“He must die.”
There’s no reason to leave him alive any longer.
Before Tess is forced to kill him with his own hands, I decided I would take care of it.
“Make it look like an accident. Or, if you prefer, you could say he committed suicide out of guilt.”
No matter how much he has wronged us, even if he’s a mere shadow of a blood relative, the idea of a brother killing his own sibling is too unpleasant to show publicly.
“Understood.”
The Chancellor readily agreed to the idea of killing the prince. After all, he was a useless prince who had attempted to assassinate the Emperor.
Sensing my intent to handle it quietly, he ordered stricter surveillance on the prince and then headed to the Magic Tower.
Weathering, who was lying in bed, appeared to have lost consciousness, his complexion was pale and almost ghostly.
“Is it really impossible for the healing priest to treat him?”
“Yes.”
It was a dire situation.
The Chancellor no longer asked questions and, as the wizard had requested, gave his blood to help with the treatment.
The wizard was specialized in healing and was using a very unusual type of magic. She deliberately focused on it, seemingly ignoring the dying Weathering for a moment.
If Weathering dies, the development of the magical tools we are working on would be delayed. This would have a significant impact on the Northern Empire.
So, what should I do next?
I’m running out of time to continue this myself…
