As the soft lines of his eyes carried a mischievous twinkle, the face I adore drew closer. Our lips met.

The kiss was profoundly deep and intense, unlike any I had given before.

I felt like I was sinking into the depths of the ocean, frantically gripping his black suit. By the time I was completely engulfed, I finally caught my breath.

My lover appeared radiant in the sunlight filtering through the leaves. His lips, moist like ripe cherries, caught my eye.

“Shall we go?”

Tess interlocked his fingers with mine as he asked, and I nodded.

He always had a better sense of direction than I did, and surprisingly, we reached the village much faster than expected. Perhaps because we both nearly sprinted down, it took less than a day.

“Doesn’t this place’s air, this sensation, confuse your sense of direction? How can you navigate?”

“It’s a form of using magic.”

Tess grabbed something from the air and stretched it out before me. Tiny, barely visible particles swirled in front of my eyes.

“There’s always magic in the air. By observing the direction and movement of these particles, everything becomes easier.”

Soon, the towering walls of County Daidi’s estate came into view. Tess paused to bid farewell.

“See you in Alin, Euseniel.”

“Okay.”

A soft touch briefly met my forehead before disappearing along with Tess.

Teleportation is really convenient. Being able to meet the person you miss right when you want to.

As I moved towards the gate, Ruby’s voice called from above.

“Euel!”

She rushed down and embraced me tightly.

“Euel, I’m so glad you’re safe.”

“Sorry for worrying you. I’ve dealt with the monster.”

“Is that really what matters now?”

“Well, it was a Kirapt.”

At the mention of ‘Kirapt’, the guards by the door flinched.

“Of course. That’s why I was more worried.”

As we linked arms, Ruby pulled me inside.

“Everyone’s been so concerned. The imperial knights were about to scour the mountain looking for you. I need to tell them you’re back.”

It must have been because they were afraid of getting killed by Tess.

“After Euel disappeared, one of the mountain peaks crumbled as if in an earthquake! Everyone thought they were going to faint.”

Yes, that was Tess’s doing.

“But I’m glad you came back so quickly.”

“Has it been two days?”

“Yes. But Euseniel, we have a problem.”

Ruby sounded quite serious.

“We’ve decided to all return to Alin.”

“And then?”

“The magic circle that leads to the capital was destroyed by falling rocks from the mountain two days ago. The route to the nearby County Heights’s estate is also blocked.”

In terms of status, I was the highest, and since Weathering and Ruby were leaders, they introduced themselves to Count Jester.

“Welcome.”

The middle-aged man smiled warmly and personally guided us to the castle. It seemed that County Jester’s situation was not much different from County Daidi’s, as its walls were quite high.

I know that the Chancellor’s Count title was handed down to his son when he became the chancellor. The capital is entirely managed by the chancellor, while the estate is managed by the Count.

Count Jester asked if we would like to have a meal, but everyone declined. We were immediately shown to our rooms, and the Count personally escorted me, Weathering, and Ruby.

Unlike others, our rooms were located side by side on a different floor.

“Is it because of the monster?”

It was as if he had been waiting to discuss it.

“After the recent magical storm subsided, monsters appeared, including some higher-level monsters that we haven’t seen in these parts before. Our local forces have struggled to cope, and we’ve suffered significant losses.”

“Are there any higher-level monsters like Kirapt?”

The mention of a specific monster name made the Count smile wryly.

“Yes. We have confirmed sightings of two, but we suspect there may be more.”

Ruby glanced at me and Weathering, who remained silent.

“Of course, we will provide all the support we can, and we’ll prepare requests for assistance and offer compensation.”

Kirapt would be an easy opponent for me, but it wasn’t my decision alone, so I remained quiet.

“We’d like to help, but we need to return to Alin, so it’s difficult to commit right now.”

Weathering’s explanation was met with a nod of understanding from the Count.

“We would appreciate any help you can provide within your capabilities.”

However, he did not withdraw his request for assistance to the very end.
