I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 183
“I had planned to explore County Daidi’s domain, but a sour-tempered dragon changed my mind.”
“Hahaha. Then come to Alin with me, and we’ll visit all the nice places together.”
“Okay.”
As I nodded, Tess, squinting his eyes and smiling, suddenly widened them in surprise.
“I’ve listed 100 places I want to go with you. Will you visit them all with me?”
“Over a lifetime, I think we can manage to visit them all.”
Considering the time we spend together now, we could visit more than two places a month, so reaching 100 shouldn’t take long.
“Let’s head down.”
Pulling Tess by the hand, he followed without protest. Perhaps the lack of reality in our meeting in an unfamiliar place made it hard to hurry him back.
Perhaps I was touched that he came all this way for my safety.
“When we get back to Alin, I’ll convince my parents.”
“About what?”
“That we should get engaged. Wait, I’m not ready to get married yet.”
I took the initiative, but the response I got was unexpected.
“Are you really Euseniel? You are, it’s Euseniel’s soul.”
Tess stopped walking and pressed his hand against my forehead.
“Your temperature is normal.”
He then buried his nose in my neck and sniffed.
“And you smell like Euseniel.”
Looking puzzled, he kept tilting his head.
“Has Euseniel lost her mind?”
This guy is a problem even when treated well.
I twisted his smooth cheek.
“Such a merciless hand! It is Euseniel, alright. It hurts, Euseniel.”
Tess, somehow speaking clearly, pulled my hand away. Rubbing his cheek, he muttered.
“That really hurts.”
“Let’s talk about engagements and everything 100 years from now.”
“Eu, Euseniel!”
“Why do you grumble even when you agree? You whine about being upset when I say no, and now you complain when I say yes?”
I wondered how much I had expressed dislike for him to react this way, but Tess looking bewildered was too amusing, so I pretended to be angry.
“In 100 years, my human father would have passed away, so there’d be no one to object. Perfect, isn’t it?”
“Euseniel, I was wrong. Okay? Please, don’t say such scary things.”
“Take care, Tess. See you in Alin. I should ask Ruby to show me around the domain. Taking my time, I’ll probably return around winter. I’ll be back before the New Year’s celebration.”
It’s important to remember when teasing that my partner takes everything seriously, so I need to tread carefully.
“No.”
“What?”
“If Euseniel doesn’t come, I’ll come down here with all my subjects.”
Otherwise, he gets serious immediately.
“I’ll spread the word across the nation that I came to see Euseniel. Then, Euseniel will have to marry me right away.”
Tess’s eyes reddened as if he was holding back tears.
…Are you sure you can see souls?
It was strange he did not realize I was joking.
“It was a joke.”
As I sighed and patted his head, Tess’s shivers stopped.
“Euseniel makes jokes too?”
Without realizing that I wanted to smack him, Tess buried his nose in my neck and inhaled deeply.
“The smell of Euseniel that I love.”
Lick.
“And the taste of Euseniel.”
He even moved to touch my back and shoulders.
“And this is definitely Euseniel’s body.”
I ended up smacking him.
“Be honest. Can you really see souls?”
“I can, really.”
“But you thought I was serious just now?”
Tess’s gaze dropped to my chest before meeting my eyes again, his expression showing realization.
“Well, I can’t see Euseniel’s soul.”
“Huh?”
“When I interact with Euseniel, I focus on Euseniel’s expressions. Whether the corners of your eyes lift, how your eyebrows move, if your lips are still or quivering.”
“…”
“And the tone and manner of your voice.”
Forgetting completely about the soul. His quiet addition left me silent for a moment.
“I’ll be more careful in the future.”
As I stroked his cheek with the back of my hand and shook my head, Tess couldn’t sit still.
“No, keep doing it. It gives me a reason to tease you.”
As I said it with a smile, Tess laughed back.
Learning new things about you, spending more time with you, I start to reflect on myself.
You often complained about your eyes hurting because you could see souls, yet now you don’t see them. I thought I was very attentive to you, but it turns out I’ve been quite neglectful.
Rubbing his shadowed eyes gently with my thumb, Tess’s lips slightly parted, releasing a sweet breath. Thinking of its deliciousness, I leaned in for a light kiss, causing his dark eyes to widen.
“Euseniel?”
“I found your flustered reaction amusing, so I teased you again.”
“It doesn’t seem like that’s all.”
As if catching on to my will for another kiss, Tess urged me.
“Kiss me, please?”
Pretending to be helpless, I tiptoed, and Tess hugged me. He remained still as I stole his breath away. I even swiped the silvery threads.
The warmth spread from my neck as Tess smiled with his eyes narrowly opened, and I had to look away.
“I’ll return to Alin as soon as possible.”
His wet tongue fleetingly licked my cheek, occasionally making a soft sound, touching and retreating.
It would have been easier to speak if Tess showed his surprised or bashful side again. Unfortunately, his affection seemed to know no bounds, and I had to whisper.
“When I arrive in Alin, you must come to my room that night. Understood?”
Soon feeling a gentle grip on my chin, my gaze wandered freely forward. Tess was smiling with his eyes narrowed.
