As if afraid he might lose me at any moment, Tess stared at me intensely. The clear water that clung to his eyelashes sparkled brilliantly.

“Come out.”

After coaxing him out of the bathtub, Tess, as if waiting, hugged my waist and buried his wet face into my stomach.

“Wait, Tess.”

When I gently pushed him away by his shoulders, he obediently let go. I felt relieved at the warmth that matched the temperature of the water.

“Euseniel.”

Tess held up his beautiful and sad face that looked ethereal.

“Euseniel…”

He struggled to grab me with his bandaged hand, and as I took hold of it, he pulled me towards him.

As I slid between his legs, he wrapped me with both of his legs. Beyond the dress, I could feel the hot and ominous thing.

“Aahh, alright.”

When I gently tickled his scalp, the shackle that bound me was released accompanied by a low moan.

Bending over, I focused on Tess’s center. It felt unfamiliar to grip onto something that had been entering my body after a long time.

Not wanting to exert too much pressure, I cautiously squeezed it as gently as I could, and a suppressed moan different from before tickled my ears.

Even with just that, Tess leaned his head back, and droplets that clung to the tip of his hair flew through the air.

After shaking my arms for a while, the thing in my hands felt deflated.

Tess, who had soaked the dress with the familiar-smelling liquid, hugged me, burying his face in my stomach. My legs were trembling, so I leaned on his shoulder.

Eventually, I washed Tess again and dressed him in a shower gown. After seating him on the bed, I used magic to quickly clean the dress.

The once white bandages were now stained red.

Tess looked at me as if he had seen something unusual. I have two eyes, one nose, and one mouth—why was he looking at me like that?

After unwrapping the bandages and placing his hands on his knee, I covered his wet hair with a towel. As I gently dried his hair, muffled groans came from beneath the towel.

After removing the wetness from his hair, I combed through it.

“I’ll go get a change of clothes, so you stay here. I’ll call the Chancellor for you.”

“Don’t go.”

He caught my wrist

Unable to grip properly due to his hand being tightly wrapped in bandages, Tess desperately tried to hold onto me.

“Don’t go, Euseniel.”

“You, do you understand the meaning of ‘don’t go’?”

There I was, expressionless inside his black eyes. The straight eyes were crumpled on the verge of shedding tears, but I didn’t deny myself.

As I pulled my hand away, Tess was startled and grabbed it again.

“Euseniel.”

Coming this far meant acknowledging my defeat. Tess had done something I despised, yet I couldn’t bring myself to abandon him.

While I disliked seeing family and friends hurt by the mistakes of the Northern Empire, hearing Tess hiding his traces made me acknowledge the worries had dominated me.

Still, Tess being annoying was a separate matter, so I spoke sharply.

“Speak, Tessvalun. About the situation earlier.”
