Chapter 50.2
She had always dreamed of people savoring her desserts, but she had never had the opportunity to showcase them to the people of the capital.
Today would surely be an unforgettable day for her.
“Oh my, what’s a cappuccino?”
“It’s a coffee made with one part espresso and two parts milk, topped with a smooth milk foam.”
“Milk foam? What’s that?”
“It’s a special creation of Lilies of April. If you drink it without stirring, you can enjoy the rich, foamy taste.”
Following the training she had received from April, May delivered the explanation calmly and confidently. When she returned to the kitchen, April greeted her with a thumbs-up.
May spoke with an excited expression.
“Everyone’s reactions are great.”
“Really?”
“Yes! They especially liked the cappuccino, saying they’d never tried anything like it before, even at a party.”
“That’s such a relief.”
“Oh, another customer is calling me. I’ll be right back!”
As April watched the bustling hall with a satisfied smile, she found herself lost in thought.
‘Something’s missing.’
Most of the customers at Lilies of April were elegantly dressed nobles. This was because her Dalgona coffee had become a hit among the nobles who had attended Asher’s birthday party.
There were already plenty of customers, but…
“I wish we could attract a more diverse group of people.”
Hearing April muttering to herself, Edmund chimed in.
“I’d like that too. But there’s still a strong perception that coffee is a noble’s drink, so commoners rarely come.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes, it was the same at the cafe where I used to work.”
“So, how can we bring in a wider variety of customers?”
“Hmm, I’m not sure. I can’t think of any specific methods right now. The cafe I worked at before leaned into being a high-end spot for nobles, but that’s not what you’re aiming for, is it?”
April nodded.
“No. I want all kinds of people to be able to enjoy coffee.”
That was exactly why she had decided to open her cafe in Saran territory.
While budget constraints had played a role, she had envisioned a space where people from all walks of life, especially those unfamiliar with coffee, could experience its taste. If her goal had been to cater solely to nobles, she would have found a way to open a cafe in a more affluent area, despite her financial limitations.
“Hmm…”
As she mulled over the problem, April suddenly exclaimed, “Ah!”
“I have a great idea.”

“Do we really need to do this?”
May, holding the pieces of Dalgona she had brought at April’s instruction, asked hesitantly.
Ethan countered.
“Why not? I think it’s a great idea.”
“But I’ve never heard of anything like this before.”
“If you put it that way, wasn’t the Dalgona latte something you’d never seen before too?”
“Well, that’s true, but still…”
“Alright, alright. Let’s stop talking and just get going.”
Ethan gently pushed May forward. Once they were outside the cafe, standing on the bustling street, May hesitantly called out to passersby.
“Come try a Dalgona latte like you’ve never tasted anywhere else before…!”
That was right. What April came up with was a free-tasting event.
‘I don’t think tasting events are common here, but…’
Still, it seemed like the most effective way to draw attention, so they decided to hold it during the cafe’s slower hours. Unlike the shy May, Ethan enthusiastically called out to attract customers. April, meanwhile, handed out small sample cups of Dalgona latte to those who showed interest, her warm smile putting even the most hesitant passersby at ease.
“This is interesting.”
At first, people eyed the unfamiliar drink skeptically, but after tasting it, they couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration. While some continued on their way, many ended up stepping into the cafe after trying it. In particular, the commoners April had hoped to reach began showing interest.
“Are we really allowed to go in and order?”
“Of course, please come in.”
In this way, they succeeded in attracting people from various social statuses and professions.
Just as the tasting event was winding down, a carriage adorned with the Winterville family crest rolled onto Beris Street, stopping right in front of Lilies of April.
The carriage door opened, and Claude and Asher stepped out.
“Sister!”
As Asher ran over and wrapped his arms around her waist, April smiled warmly and welcomed him.
“What brings you here?”
“We came to cheer you on!”
The sight of his cheerful, innocent smile warmed her heart.
“Then, Asher, would you like some Dalgona milk before you go?”
“Yes, please!”
“Alright.”
Taking the child’s hand, April extended her other hand toward Claude.
“Duke, please come in. I’ll make you the most delicious coffee.”
“Sure.”
He replied, his tone as if to say, ‘I’ll graciously have a taste.’
April beamed with a bright smile. It was the happiest day of her life.
