I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
‘Is this a dream?’
Half-awake, I thought I might be imagining things that weren’t there, so I pinched my cheek firmly.
“Ouch.”
I could clearly feel the pain, reassuring me that it was indeed real. Before me stood a man with a tall stature, broad shoulders, and a breathtakingly beautiful face, wearing an apron.
But that wasn’t all. Following the enticing aroma, I turned my gaze to the dining table, where a feast of tantalizing dishes awaited.
“Master.”
As his enchanting lips moved, I was taken aback. The events from the previous night suddenly flooded back into my mind. This man named Sion had kneeled before me, vowing to become my servant.
I looked back at the dining table, puzzled.
“This is a good morning… but what is all of this?”
“I prepared it for you, Master. It might be a bit late for breakfast.”
“Ah…”
I was at a loss for words. No one had ever prepared such a grand meal for me before.
Not even during my time in the Cernia noble family, where the number of times I had meals with family members could be counted on a single hand.
“Um… you didn’t have to go through all this trouble.”
“No, it’s something I should naturally do.”
For Sion, it might have felt natural since he was a slave, but to me, it felt different.
I felt a strange tingling sensation in my chest. Was it just an illusion?
His lips curled into a small smile.
“Just a moment.”
I glanced at my clothes and quickly returned to my room. It felt a bit embarrassing to be wearing my nightwear in front of him.
‘Today feels like a special day.’
Even while washing up, I felt as if today was an extraordinary day.
Though I had helped treat a man out of sympathy, the atmosphere in the house had changed drastically in just one day.
‘I didn’t even receive such treatment on my birthday.’
My mood was peculiar. I should have been happy, but I questioned if I deserved such treatment.
‘No, perhaps it’s because he’s grateful for the help he received.’
After all, I had saved Sion’s life, so this kind of treatment was reasonable. Besides, I hadn’t treated him for free; I would charge him, along with interest, when his memory returned.
It was the last remaining trace of my previous life’s upbringing that prompted me to do this.
Returning to the kitchen, I sat across from Sion. Seeing the delectable dishes up close made my mouth water involuntarily.
“Master, I prepared the soup first.”
Sion kindly explained as he filled a bowl with the appetizing soup he had made.
It was a soup with meat, and it tasted exceptional. The creamy and smooth texture spread all over my mouth. Is this what angels usually eat? It was so good that tears welled up in my eyes.
“…Wow, it’s delicious.”
“I’m glad you like it, Master.”
In response to my plain words, Sion let out a refreshing laugh.
“Are you going out to the city today? You mentioned yesterday that you wanted to check my living situation.”
“Yes, that’s right. There’s some place I need to go…and I think you need some new clothes.”
I had already discarded the blood-stained clothes Sion had worn, and for now, he was wearing the previous owner’s clothes as a temporary solution.
And so, I decided to do a little more for the person who would be leaving soon. It’s just clothes. I have no problem with that. But it seemed like Sion didn’t think the same way.
“No, this is enough for me.”
“How will you manage with just that? You don’t even have a place to stay yet. And this isn’t for free; you’ll have to repay me when your memory returns.”
Of course, I wasn’t doing this for free. Adding the cost of the medicine, I planned to receive it all back with interest at some point. As a girl from the modern world, it was the last bit of consciousness that impelled me to do this.
“Thank you.”
Sion eventually nodded his head when I spoke in a firm tone. I was left feeling confused.
“But why… You’ve just escaped from a life of illegal slavery, and now you want to serve a new master?”
It didn’t make much sense to me, but Sion seemed to think differently.
“…I lost my memory.”
“….”
“That’s why I chose you as my master… I’m so happy that I can’t even express it. I was always forced to serve masters; now that I can choose, I’m grateful beyond words.”
Sion spoke with a brighter smile than the morning sun.
“Even if you hit me, even if you were to tie me up, it’s okay.”
“….”
Why would he think that? Sion’s articulation surprised me as I tried to understand his perspective.
“So, until my memory returns, or until a place is determined for me to stay, may I serve as your servant?”
I felt lost at Sion’s earnest plea. In other words, Sion knew only how to serve a master.
So he felt only pure joy in serving me, without any aversion.
Sion was afraid I would reject him.
‘What should I do…?’
Originally, my plan was to go to the city today to find him a job and send him off from my house.
I thought that was the extent of what I could do.
However, with his memory lost, Sion wanted to repay the favor he had received.
So he pleaded with me like this.
‘But if I think about it, there might still be people chasing after him…’
And there was also a safety issue. With Sion here, I might be in danger as well, but it was better than him being alone.
If I asked the guards for help, the risk would significantly decrease.
‘Though, for a while, it should be fine.’ Read ahead here.
