I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
“Greetings.”
Platinum-blonde hair that gleamed brilliantly and golden eyes that seemed to hold molten gold gazed at me.
He stared at me for a long while before his lips curved into a gentle smile.
“I am Noctis.”
Even at a glance, Noctis had the air of a priest. A high priest, at that. Could there be anyone with such a sacred aura?
He looked as though he could save the world without even trying.
“Hello. I am Rosette.”
“I apologize for startling you with this sudden meeting.”
“No, I was on my way to the temple as well.”
As I said this, I glanced at Snow. It kept its eyes closed and did not meet Noctis’ gaze.
“That is…”
Noctis’ gaze, following mine, flickered. Before I could speak, Kiris tilted his head and addressed Noctis.
“So, what did you call us for?”
Noctis answered with a faint smile, “I simply had something I wished to confirm.”
“Regarding the oracle?”
“Yes. I encountered a slight difficulty while healing Sir Kiris, and I would like to consult you for a moment.”
“A difficulty?”
Kiris and Noctis exchanged glances, and Noctis shook his head.
“It is nothing. Miss Rosette.”
Noctis extended his hand toward me, a smile playing on his lips.
“Would you mind accompanying me for a moment? With Sir Kiris’ permission, of course.”
“…Very well.”
Kiris trailed off his words as if he were reluctant, but Noctis stood up.
“I believe it would be best to bring the fox as well. It seems that Miss Rosette is curious about it.”
“Oh, yes.”
“Kiing!”
Snow let out a sharp yelp at his pointed remark. I cradled Snow in my arms and followed Noctis.
Although he was a high priest, he seemed to be quite perceptive, but I was relieved that he said nothing about Snow.
If he were to demand I return him to the temple, I would have to find a way to persuade them.
Kiris agreed to wait for my return, and we arrived at the Sanctum of Purification.
“This is the Sanctum of Purification. It is where the sacred water blessed by Lord Moereus himself is kept.”
The paladins guarding the entrance briefly glanced at Noctis and opened the large doors.
The magnificent interior was then revealed before our eyes.
“Wow…”
The towering ceiling, seemingly reaching infinity, and the grand scale of the Sanctum of Purification left me in awe.
I followed behind Noctis, looking around in wonder.
Noctis stopped walking when we reached a statue.
“Miss Rosette, would you step forward?”
There was a basin in front of the statue, and I could tell at a glance that it was no ordinary basin.
It was a priceless basin worth more than all the money in the world!
“This is the sacred water. It is holy water that purifies the evil residing within one’s body. Would you like to dip your hand in it?”
“My hand…?”
Noctis seemed unaffected, a faint smile playing on his lips. How could he maintain such a benevolent smile without his lips growing tired?
Pushing aside my useless thoughts, I looked at the sacred water in the basin. My face was reflected in the clear water.
“Should I try it…?”
Noctis nodded at my words, and I nervously brought my trembling hand close to the sacred water.
BAM-
Before my hand could touch the sacred water, a white, holy aura erupted from my fingertips.
* * *
Thud- Thud-
Something was tugging at my consciousness. A soft, yet heart-pounding warmth was numbing my senses.
Eventually, I opened my eyes in an unfamiliar space.
‘Where am I?’
I moved my lips, but no sound came out. A sudden wave of fear washed over me, and I looked around with a strange feeling.
A void of nothingness.
That was where I had opened my eyes.
‘I was just about to dip my hand in the sacred water.’
A primal fear of the unknown began to creep in.
[Over here, Mistress.]
A genderless voice echoed in my head.
I turned my head and saw a white-furred fox wagging its tail and looking at me with serious eyes.
I knew that fox better than anyone.
‘Snow…?’
[You can finally communicate with me. What a fool of a Mistress.]
I blinked in a daze.
‘Am I dreaming? Surely Snow can’t talk.’
[S… Snow, yes! Ugh, you have no sense of naming whatsoever. How could you give such a rustic name to a noble divine beast like me? I am truly unfortunate.]
