I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 35
Chapter 35
“Sion?”
Without realizing it, I felt my strength drain away, and the basket I was holding slipped from my hands.
Thud.
The sound that broke the silence seemed unusually loud. I felt anxious when I couldn’t see Sion in the living room.
‘Is he still asleep?’
I thought he might not be coming out because I had talked about leaving early this morning last night. He was always diligent, so it wouldn’t be a problem if he woke up late for a day.
‘He’s been through a lot lately.’
I pretended to be fine and climbed up the stairs to Sion’s room. But my pounding heart couldn’t calm down, no matter how hard I tried.
In an effort to forget about it, I called out Sion’s name in a trembling voice.
“Sion!”
At this point, he should have greeted me with a smile, but I didn’t sense any response.
I hurriedly went to Sion’s room.
Knock, knock.
“Sion, are you awake?”
No matter how many times I called, there was no answer.
Could something have happened? Or maybe he was in too much pain to speak.
In an instant, anxiety enveloped me, and I rushed into the room.
“….”
However, the room greeted me with no trace of warmth.
I couldn’t say anything with a disappointed heart. All I could do was stand there blankly.
Until yesterday, Sion had cooked delicious food as usual, and we had conversations. There was an unfortunate incident with Lionel coming in the afternoon, but we got through it fine.
‘But why?’
I looked around the room. The bed where Sion had been lying was neatly arranged, and all traces of him living there for months had completely disappeared.
It was as if my encounters with Sion were just a dream.
“Sion…”
I had already suspected that someday Sion would leave me. I had been preparing myself for it, but a sense of sadness unexpectedly overwhelmed me.
“He could have at least left a note…”
I searched through the drawer, hoping to find a note or something left behind, but I couldn’t find anything.
Sion had left.
That fact hit me a little harder.
“I thought I would be fine…”
That was my illusion.
At first, I helped him, thinking he had lost his memory, and actively looked for a job to help him become independent. As I comforted Sion, who had deep emotional wounds, we spent more and more time together, and it seemed like I had grown attached to him.
Coming out of the room, I went downstairs in a daze. The quiet atmosphere was familiar but unfamiliar.
“Well, this is for the best.”
Now I could finally enjoy the single life I had wanted. I would do everything myself, not just washing dishes and doing laundry but also cleaning and tending to the garden.
I didn’t dislike having more work. After all, it was what I was supposed to do. It’s just that I felt a bit empty.
“Yeah, you should become independent too.”
I guessed that Sion had followed Louis and Helena.
“He’ll probably reopen the magic workshop.”
If that’s the case, I thought it would be nice if he could contact me later.
I tried to think positively as I cleaned up the spilled basket.
“He’ll let me know someday, right?”
That day, my hands were clumsier than usual while mending.
But contrary to my expectations, a year passed, and there was no news.
* * *
People in robes were anxiously looking at the man sitting on the couch. Among them, a pale-faced man widened his eyes.
“Do you recognize me perfectly now?”
“You…” With disheveled silver hair and blood-red eyes, the man, Sion, replied coolly, radiating an inexplicable aura. “You’re a soon-to-be dead aide.”
“That, I’m not so sure, but I am indeed your aide! Your memory has finally returned!”
Louis jumped up and down in joy. The surrounding mages hugged each other and shed tears.
“He returned!”
“We can finally focus on magical research!”
“Our savior!”
Amidst the commotion, Sion looked down at his own hand. He was pleased to feel the clear flow of magic power from his fingertips, as if he had regained what he had lost.
Ever since he’d first followed Louis and Helena, he’d been working hard to regain his power. His memories were gradually returning, but there was no sign of his magic power coming back.
“It seems to respond to divine power.”
Based on Helena’s opinion, they secretly requested assistance from the temple, and a priest who was said to have a lot of divine power personally came over.
“It seems that whatever energy this man has, it responds to divine power.”
Fortunately, when abundant divine power was infused, the strange energy disappeared.
“It’s only possible because the energy has already greatly faded. Someone must have treated it with divine power.”
“I have never received any treatment.”
“Then you must have an amazing recovery ability.”
According to the priest’s words, it seemed that it was not the power of this world that harmed Sion. Therefore, there were various opinions within the Magic Tower about who would want to harm Sion.
Sion immediately reprimanded the mages in charge of magical materials and administered the Truth Potion, but they couldn’t capture the culprit. And now, after about a year, Sion has regained all of his memories.
“So… Sir Sion, do you remember everything? Yes? Please tell me it’s true.”
Louis, who had been watching carefully, blinked his eyes and cautiously spoke.
“Yes.”
Seeing Sion’s immediate and unwavering response, Louis felt as if he could fly to the sky. How much effort had he put in?
He had searched the entire capital with Helena to find the missing Sion and happened to encounter Rosette, which led them to find Sion.
“Sir Kiris.”
In a trembling voice, Louis called the Tower Lord, who had been called Sion, and Kiris raised one corner of his mouth.
Louis cleared his throat briefly, not used to the dangerous aura that flowed through him after his memories returned.
