I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 122
Chapter 122
‘What could he want with me?’
“May I ask why he has summoned me?”
“I’m not sure. Only that His Highness has called for you…”
[Mistress, that human carries an unholy aura.]
I had felt a sense of unease, and now things were starting to feel strange. Snow’s words made me look at the attendant with suspicion, but he remained impassive, as if devoid of emotion.
‘I can’t refuse a royal summons,’ I thought. Refusing a royal command based on a bad feeling would put me in a difficult position.
Besides, I had been trying to uncover the truth about what happened to me.
‘If I can find evidence, things might actually work out.’
Having made up my mind, I stood up.
“All right. So, just me, then?”
“Yes, that is correct.”
Just then, Aria stepped in front of me, raising her hand.
“Then I’ll go too.”
She suddenly declared her intention to accompany me.
‘Oh!’
I was taken aback by Aria’s unexpected offer of support. I hesitated, knowing it could be dangerous.
‘I have the ring, though…’
I could use the ring Kiris gave me in case of emergency. If its power was as potent as Kiris claimed, would it be enough?
‘Snow, help me.’
[Hmph! As if I’m not precious enough. Fine, Mistress.]
I decided to ask Snow for help. The attendant looked slightly flustered but didn’t object. And so, Aria and I followed the attendant.
‘It’s nice to escape that icy atmosphere…’
Despite the suspicious attendant, the situation wasn’t entirely bad. It was better than being trapped in the suffocating tension of the tea party.
‘But what is going on? Especially in the heavily guarded Imperial Palace.’
If Cedric had truly summoned me, there would be no reason to send an attendant with an unholy aura.
‘Could it be the Crown Prince…?’
A hypothesis formed in my mind, but I dismissed it as improbable. After all, the Imperial Palace had directly investigated and resolved the monster attack against me. Whoever was behind it, Snow was right.
“Aria, are we getting too far from the hall?” I asked. Yes, indeed. My suspicions were solidifying. We were moving further and further away from the hall, heading towards the forest.
“Rosette, don’t worry. I’m here,” Aria reassured me. That’s right! I wasn’t alone. I noticed a slight tremor in her body, but she hid it well, and I was touched by her bravery.
‘Definitely…’
The attendant’s route made no sense. The guards and other attendants had vanished at some point. I called out to the attendant, my voice tinged with fear.
“Excuse me, are we going the right way? It seems like we’re heading into the forest.”
“Do you believe in the God Moreus, my lady?”
“What?”
Why would he suddenly mention the God Moreus? The attendant continued leading the way, seemingly unconcerned.
“I’m just curious.”
I thought for a moment. Before I was transported to this world, I didn’t believe in God. But my arrival here, and the manifestation of divine power within me… those two facts alone proved Moreus’s existence.
‘The priests use divine power, too.’
That was something that couldn’t be scientifically explained, and it wasn’t defined as magic.
“Yes. Since God exists, so does divine power, and the priests.”
Aria eyed the attendant suspiciously.
“But what does that mean?”
“I don’t believe.”
“…?”
The attendant’s voice changed drastically. Gone was the emotionless tone, replaced by a fervor that sent chills down my spine. I instinctively grabbed Aria’s arm and backed away.
“What do you…”
“God does not exist, but the Devil does.” And then, it happened. The attendant froze, as if petrified, before suddenly whirling around and seizing my arm.
“Let go of me!”
“See? This is His power.” A black aura erupted from the attendant’s body, his blue eyes turning pitch black.
“Ahh!” Aria screamed, trying to pull me away, but the attendant’s grip was too strong. A dark magic enveloped me.
“Kiing!” Sensing the danger, Snow appeared and bit the attendant’s arm. I opened my mouth to utter the activation word.
“Ki…”
But the word died in my throat. Blue particles shimmered around me, and silver hair fluttered in the air. Blazing red eyes curved into a gentle smile.
“I’m not too late, Mistress.”
