Ferre waved his hand, trying to call Sera, and Helios urgently covered Ferre’s mouth. He signaled for them to be quiet. Rosé and Ferre tilted their heads, puzzled by his actions.
“Sera’s over there reading a book.”
“Weren’t you here to see Sera?”
“Well, yes, but…”
Helios wore a troubled expression and buried his face in his hands. While he had come to see Sera, hoping that being with her would help him regain his memories, facing her was incredibly difficult.
Especially because of the strange feelings he experienced whenever he saw her.
Even though he didn’t have memories, his heart would race wildly whenever he saw her. Sometimes, when she called him ‘Heli’, the symptoms seemed to worsen.
He had even told Raphael and Jean that the side effects of the potion his siblings made might be affecting his heart and that he needed to be tested for arrhythmia, only to receive sarcastic remarks.
Raphael had said, ‘Your Majesty, you used to deny that you’d fallen in love before as well. Back then, you also claimed it was arrhythmia as an excuse.’ And Jean had added, ‘I knew it back then too, but you are seriously so dense with your own feelings.’
Although he had somewhat suspected it himself, hearing it confirmed made facing Sera even more confusing. Treating her like a lover when he knew nothing about her felt strange, yet treating her ordinarily was something his heart couldn’t handle.
How exactly had he treated Sera before losing his memory?
As Helios rubbed his face with his hands, Rosé and Ferre looked at him with worried eyes.
“Oppa, are you okay?”
“Hyung, are you hurt?”
“No, it’s nothing. I’m fine. Just stay like this for a moment.”
He hid behind the bookshelf with his siblings and watched her from a distance.
Sera was pushing her black hair behind her ears, pulling out one book after another as if searching for something specific. Since she wasn’t very tall, she had to stand on her tiptoes to reach the books on the higher shelves, making her look like a cute squirrel retrieving acorns hidden in a cupboard.
Sera stretched out her arm to grab a book from the top of the bookshelf. Standing on a stool, she struggled as the book didn’t come out easily.
That looks a bit dangerous.
He thought it was time for him to step in.
“Oh? It’s Hope.”
Ferre, who was watching with him, murmured softly.
Paul Hope. As he remembered, Paul was the second son of House Hope. He was quite competent in economic affairs, and his rapid promotion had been mentioned by Raphael a few times.
Using his height, Paul easily retrieved the book for Sera. She gave him a bright smile of gratitude, and Paul bowed deeply to her.
There was nothing unusual about this. Since Paul worked in the palace, it wasn’t special for him to be in the library. Sera’s interaction was merely a formal greeting. She was a kind person, and from observing her over the past three days, he had noticed that she smiled often.
But what was this feeling?
He felt terrible.
Extremely.
He disliked seeing her large, round, blue eyes crinkle into half-moons at someone other than himself, and he disliked her pink lips smiling at another man.
Helios unconsciously gripped the bookshelf with one hand. The sound of cracking wood was heard, and Rosé whispered in his ear.
“Oppa, are you jealous?”
Rosé nudged him and nodded towards the bookshelf. Startled, Helios widened his eyes at his own actions, while the clueless Ferre laughed brightly.
“Sera’s always been quite popular. I found out later that Rosé said you used to be jealous all the time, Hyung! There was a similar incident before, and you even took us to an opera just to ruin Sera’s date. And Rosé also said…”
Ferre seemed excited. Helios, flustered and at a loss for words, lowered his head, his ears turning red. Ferre’s voice was quite loud, making him worried they would be discovered.
“Fe, Ferre. Stop… stop it…”
Helios tried to pull Ferre close and cover his mouth.
Until Sera appeared right in front of them.
“What are you all doing here?”
