Ferre stared at the potion with an anxious expression, murmuring. What worried him more than being caught gathering ingredients was the result of the potion.
“It sh…ould be fine. If we followed the book exactly, the result should be perfect. We didn’t make any mistakes, right?”
“Y…Yeah… Maybe?”
Ferre nodded at what Rosé said, but he wasn’t 100% sure either. Did he stir it four times when he was supposed to stir it only three times…?
Suddenly, Ferre remembered the academy teacher’s warning that making potions always required caution. Even a small mistake could cause problems with a magic potion. Sensing his anxiety, Rosé patted his head to comfort him.
“It’s okay. If we drink it quickly and get rid of the evidence, no one will know. Ferre, you always worry too much.”
“But… But what if something goes wrong?”
“You’re the one who was scared of the test and suggested making the potion. You even found the book in the library. We’re in this together now. One sip for me, one sip for you. Okay?”
“…Okay. Fine.”
Ferre steadied his resolve again. If they followed the book exactly, there should be no problems. Just as Rosé grabbed the cup and was about to take the first sip of the potion…
“Rosé, Ferre.”

“What were you two talking about so seriously?”
Sera and Helios sat down next to Rosé and Ferre, asking kindly. Normally, the kids would have run to them shouting, “Sera! Oppa!” but today, they seemed unusually distant, leaving Sera and Helios puzzled.
“We, um…”
“W-We were studying the multiplication table! We were studying the multiplication table.”
Rosé quickly answered before Ferre could hesitate. Helios and Sera nodded, finally understanding.
“Yes. The multiplication table test is in four days, right? I’m worried you might be overdoing it. I heard the light in Ferre’s room stays on all night.”
“It’s good to work hard, but please be careful not to overwork yourselves. I’ve heard that you’ve also been waking up at dawn, Your Highness Rosé. Is there anything we can help you with?”
“Well, we’re working hard, but it’s not to the point of worry, Sera.”
“We’ll be careful, Hyung. And as for help… we don’t need any yet.”
Rosé and Ferre, feeling a bit guilty, laughed awkwardly. They glanced anxiously at the cup, worried that their plan might have been discovered.
Perhaps because they were staring at the cup, Helios reached for the water cup placed between Rosé and Ferre.
“Is this water? Can I drink it?”
“O…Oppa! Wa…Wait!”
Startled, Rosé and Ferre jumped up to stop him. But Helios had already brought the cup to his lips, drinking the water with a serene smile.
“Huh?”
He set the empty cup down after finishing it. Rosé and Ferre stared blankly at the now-empty cup, then looked up at Helios with worried faces.
“H-Hyung…?”
“O-Oppa…?”
“Why are you two acting like this?”
Sera tilted her head in confusion. Helios was equally puzzled.
“Why? Was it water I shouldn’t have drunk?”
“No, that’s not it…”
“Oppa, do you feel any different?”
“Does your head feel clearer or something…?”
Rosé and Ferre hesitantly asked Helios. He tilted his head, saying the water just tasted like normal water and wondering if there was something special about it.
“Huh? Was it special water? It just felt refreshing.”
The two looked at each other, hesitating. The successful potion was supposed to taste bitter, so maybe it failed?
A mix of relief at not being caught and disappointment that the potion had failed swept over them. The silver lining was that, despite the failure, Helios didn’t seem to suffer any side effects.
‘Yeah, it’s a relief nothing changed.’
‘Phew. It failed, but at least there’s no side effects.’
“What’s with those faces? It seems like you’re hiding something from us.”
“Oh, no! Sera, we’re not hiding anything!”
“A-Absolutely not. Sera, you must be mistaken.”
“Really?”
“Yes! Of course!”
Rosé and Ferre sighed in relief. They watched Helios’s behavior closely until Sera and Helios left, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
At least until the next day…
When Helios suddenly lost all his memories.
