The babies were in a specially made large stroller.
Traditionally, Sera should have carried the babies dressed in white lace baptismal gowns, but with three babies, this was an unavoidable choice.
When Rosé and Ferre were baptized, there were just two, so the Emperor and Empress could hold one each.
“…Charlotte Adelio.”
With many formal titles following her name, the priest first called Charlotte’s name.
Surrounded by friends and family, Sera picked up Charlotte. Wearing a white dress adorned with a large pearl crown, Sera looked even more radiant and beautiful than usual.
The baby, oblivious to the ceremony, simply smiled brightly, delighted by her mother’s enhanced beauty.
“Byaaah—”
Charlotte, not shy, didn’t cry even when handed to the priest. As she drooled with a face just like Sera’s, the spectators smiled softly at her cuteness.
After the holy water was sprinkled, Charlotte was passed to her father. Helios wiped her drool, and Charlotte giggled joyfully once more.
With the baptisms of Ernst and Dion completed, the chapel erupted in applause.
The most enthusiastic applause and tears came from Jean. Jean and Rafael, Helios’s close friends, had agreed to be godfathers to Charlotte, Ernst, and Dion.
“Heli’s children…”
“It’s an official event. Call him ‘Your Majesty’. Watch your words, Jean.”
Rafael gently stepped on Jean’s foot as Jean wiped his tears.
Jean blew his nose into the handkerchief and slyly stuffed it into Rafael’s pocket.
Such petty revenge. How filthy. Rafael scowled but couldn’t scold Jean due to the crowd.
As Jean and Rafael bickered, the baptism ceremony neared its end.
Sera and Helios moved with the babies for a commemorative photo.
Rosé and Ferre followed them.
“Babies, don’t be scared.”
“It’ll sparkle for a moment because of magic, but it’ll be fine right after.”
Rosé and Ferre, now mature, reassured the babies, worried they might be startled by the camera’s flash.
Knowing Rosé and Ferre’s concern, the babies reached out with coos and gurgles. Despite the damp baby hands pulling at their well-groomed clothes and hair, Rosé and Ferre maintained their smiles.
“Charlotte, Ernst, Dion. Auntie and Uncle will be tired. No pulling.”
Sera gently adjusted the babies’ hands. Fortunately, understanding their mother’s intent, the babies smiled without fussing.
Sera held Charlotte, and Helios held Ernst and Dion, sitting down for the photo.
Rosé and Ferre sat beside Sera and Helios, straightening their clothes. Ferre brushed his hair back like his brother and adjusted his tie to look neat, while Rosé smoothed the wrinkles in her dress.
“Are both of you ready?” Helios asked.
Rosé and Ferre nodded enthusiastically.
“Of course, Oppa.”
“Sera, are you ready?”
“I’m ready too.”
When Helios signaled to the photographer, he nodded in return.
“Alright, I’m going to take the picture now. Your Majesty, Your Highnesses, everyone smile brightly.”
Rosé and Ferre stretched their mouths into big smiles, and Helios and Sera smiled as well.
Flash!
As the bright light filled the room and then disappeared, the startled babies began to cry again.
“I knew this would happen.”
Sera chuckled as she comforted Charlotte, while Helios, holding the two boys, couldn’t move and asked for help.
Jean and Rafael quickly came over and awkwardly took Ernst and Dion. It was clear Jean hadn’t held a baby many times—oddly enough, Rafael handled the baby with ease. Seeing this, Rosé and Ferre began giving instructions.
“Jean, don’t hold him like that. The baby looks uncomfortable.”
“You need to support his bottom more.”
“Like this, Your Highness Ferre?”
“Yes, yes. Like that.”
“See, Ernst looks more comfortable now. His expression has improved.”
“Ah, I see, Your Highness Rosé!”
Everyone, including Sera and Helios, burst into laughter as they watched Rosé and Ferre, who had somehow become baby experts.
Helios approached Sera, who was holding Charlotte.
By then, Charlotte had stopped crying and was smiling brightly.
He gently kissed Charlotte’s forehead and gave Sera a light kiss as well. Surprised by Helios’s sudden action, Sera’s eyes widened, but she responded with a smile.
Charlotte, enjoying her parents’ affection, began pulling Sera’s black hair.
“Bya-baah—”
Flash.
The photographer, caught off guard by the moment, took another picture.
The babies, who had just stopped crying, started wailing again, and Rosé and Ferre scolded Jean to do better.
It was a dazzlingly peaceful and love-filled day.
