I Became the Tutor of the Royal Twins - Side Story 13
Side Story 13

One day, as the leaves began to fall, dinner started a bit later than usual.
As the main guests of the dining room began to appear one by one, the palace servants began serving the prepared food.
The table was set with abundant and carefully prepared dishes, ranging from the twins’ favorites to those that matched Sera and Helios’s tastes. The food was as delicious as it was visually appealing, always tempting them to overeat.
“When is Hyung coming, Sera?”
Ferre, concentrating intensely on his steak with what he thought was a sophisticated knife technique, asked.
Sera glanced at the empty seat opposite her and responded with a slightly disappointed face.
“He said he’d be a bit late because the meeting is running over.”
“Oppa’s been really busy lately. We can’t even have meals together.”
“Indeed.”
Though it wasn’t a particularly disappointing matter, her spirits felt dampened. Her gaze kept drifting towards Helios’s empty seat, likely because of this.
Was it because they hadn’t been spending much time together recently?
With the palace’s busy autumn schedule, they both had little free time. Helios was preoccupied with preparations for the Founding Festival, while she was busy with the academy’s graduation season preparations.
On the rare occasions when Helios came back from work early, Sera would already be in bed. Lately, she had been feeling unusually sleepy, especially when she was next to Helios.
Last night was no different.
They had been chatting comfortably in bed, but she fell asleep and woke up to Helios greeting her with ‘Did you sleep well?’ and a morning kiss.
“Sera, are you feeling unwell?”
Rosé, noticing Sera’s dazed expression, asked with a concerned look.
“No, I’m just feeling a bit sluggish.”
“Are you sick?”
“You don’t look well.”
Ferre, joining in the concern, put down his fork and knife and jumped off his chair.
Approaching Sera, he placed his hand on her forehead.
“Hmm. As I thought, Sera.”
Ferre had a very serious look on his face.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
“You have a fever.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Your forehead is a bit warm.”
Maybe that explained it. Though it didn’t feel like a cold.
Sera rubbed her forehead where Ferre’s hand had been.
It did seem like she had a slight fever.
“When Oppa comes, ask him to heal you with his divine power, Sera.”
“Okay.”
“Make sure you eat well too. You’ve hardly touched your food today.”
The twins, ever the worrywarts, began to scold Sera.
It felt like their roles were reversed.
It seemed like the twins were becoming more like her as time went by.
Under their persistent gazes, Sera finally picked up her fork.
There was plenty of her favorite stew and salad, but she couldn’t muster an appetite.
After some hesitation, she took a small portion of the well-cooked pigeon dish. Although the twins liked it, Sera typically avoided it due to memories from her past life. But today, she surprisingly craved it.
Sera cut a small piece and put it in her mouth.
Then it happened.
“Urp!”
Suddenly, she felt nauseous.
“Sera! What’s wrong?”
“Doctor! Where’s the doctor!”
“Your Majesty, are you alright!”
“Your Majesty, have some water….”
The previously peaceful dinner turned into a moment of panic. The maids rushed to Sera, alarmed by her retching. Pale-faced, Sera continued to heave while the maids supported her.
Some of the knights ran to fetch the doctor.
With the help of the maids, Sera quickly left the dining room.
Rosé and Ferre turned pale as they watched her leave.
Oh no. This was….
It was a scene they had seen before.
The palace was a dangerous place….
They had recently read a similar scene in a fairy tale book.
“Rosé, did you see what happened to Sera just now…?”
Ferre’s body trembled.
“Ferre, I think I had the same thought….”
“Could it be…”
“Poison…?”
And then they began to wail.
* * *
“The Empress?”
“Yes, Your Majesty. She collapsed while dining with Their Highnesses….”
“Is she alright? What did the doctor say?”
“We don’t know yet. I rushed to inform you first, Your Majesty.”
Helios’s fingertips turned white as he listened to the knight. He had just finished a longer-than-expected meeting and was on his way to see Sera and his siblings. The news the knight brought was beyond shocking—it was horrifying.
He knew that Sera had been feeling tired recently. She would often doze off during their conversations and found it harder to get up in the mornings.
But he had thought it was just due to her busy schedule. The academy’s first graduation season was approaching, and diligent Sera wouldn’t do anything less than her best.
Stopping her was futile. She would just find another way to push herself.
So, knowing she was overworking herself, he hadn’t forced her to rest. Instead, he would use his divine power to help her recover while she slept.
Was that a mistake?
Sera collapsing… Why?
