Chapter 294

At Leticia’s words, the crowd wore reluctant expressions.

They looked at Sera and Leticia, then slowly started to disperse one by one.

Soon, only Leticia was left nearby.

Feeling a bit more at ease, Sera let out a sigh inwardly and addressed Leticia.

“I didn’t expect everyone to clear out at your single request.”

“Well, I do have my ways in high society. I know a secret or two about everyone here. These people want to impress you, but they certainly don’t want to reveal any of their indiscretions to you this early on. Everyone here knows how close I am to you, Saintess.”

Sera smiled lightly at Leticia’s words, emphasizing their special relationship in a way that was so typical of Leticia.

“Anyway, I really wanted to congratulate you. On your investiture today and… well…”

Leticia lowered her voice and whispered in Sera’s ear.

“Also on your situation with His Majesty!”

Sera blushed.

“When did it start exactly? At Prince Aushuvel’s banquet? I didn’t think it was then… The other ladies speculated it started around that time. Or is it more recent?”

Leticia’s eyes sparkled with interest as she asked.

Sera, wary that what she’d say now might become tomorrow’s news, kept her answers limited to a smile.

Fortunately, Leticia didn’t press her for an answer but instead pulled out a small letter from her handbag.

“What’s this?”

Sera looked at the letter Leticia handed to her.

“This is a letter from my Edward. He was so happy when he found out that you’re the Saintess, Count. He kept insisting that I tell you how proud he is that his teacher is not just any teacher.”

Sera slightly unfolded the card and smiled.

Little Edward had filled the letter with crooked handwriting and drawings of caramel.

“Please tell Edward thank you, Madam.”

Leticia smiled satisfactorily.

Just then, she noticed Rosé and Ferre approaching Sera and added one last remark before making way.

“I hear that the academy you’re founding with His Majesty is opening soon. You’ll be the headmaster, and I entrust my Edward to you.”

“Yes, Madam.”

Leticia greeted Sera and then disappeared.

The gap was soon filled by the cheerful voices of Rosé and Ferre, who had apparently been searching hard for her and showed signs of fatigue.

“Sera, we didn’t know where you were, so we’ve been looking for you for a while.”

“Me and Rosé walked from there to the end ooover there.”

“It seems we couldn’t see you because you were in the middle of soooo many people.”

Sera gently stroked the children’s heads, soothing them.

She casually asked about Helios, who she expected to appear with the children but still seemed absent from the banquet hall.

“Where has His Majesty gone?”

“Hyung?”

“Oppa?”

Rosé and Ferre also seemed not to know his whereabouts, looking around them.

“Should me and Ferre go look for him?”

“We’ll find him quickly! If we tell Hyung that Sera wants to see him, he’ll come right away, right?”

Rosé and Ferre wore expressions like children eager to run an errand.

Thinking they would be disappointed if she didn’t allow them, Sera nodded.

“Alright. But remember, walk, don’t run in the banquet hall.”

Helios was alone on a balcony.

He watched the droplets shatter against the starlight and realized this was the place he had been with Sera last summer.

Foolish, not knowing he was in love.

On a lush summer night last year, he had watched fireworks here with Sera.

Sera, dressed in a blue gown, had looked beautiful under the colorful lights.

Looking back, it wasn’t just the loud fireworks that had made his heart pound.

It was a subtle sign that his feelings for her were quietly stirring.

He knew it was futile now but always regretted it.

His actions back then had pressured Sera to confess to him first and had made things difficult for her.

So this time, it had to be him first.

Helios recalled the resolve he had been considering since Sera woke up from her coma.

He pulled a small box, made of deep wine-colored velvet, from his pocket.

Click.

He opened the box, and a large diamond inside shone with a clear light.

It was the ring passed down to the emperor’s consort through generations.

Despite the difference in their status, and further, despite the great obstacle of death that she overcame, she had dramatically made it this far.

Knowing the difficult path Sera had walked, he wanted to give her only happy memories from now on.

Like the unchanging diamond, he wanted to pledge his eternal love that would never fade.

“Heli Oppa!”

“Heli Hyung!”

What startled Helios, lost in thoughts of the proposal, were none other than Rosé and Ferre.

Seeing them peering through the curtains, Helios, without any expression, quickly hid the ring case back in his pocket, but he couldn’t avoid Rosé’s sharp gaze.

“What’s that, Oppa?”

“Hm?”

Helios smiled gently, lifting the corners of his mouth.

However, Rosé narrowed her eyes as if a smile wouldn’t fool her. She stared intently at Helios’s chest.

“It was something big and sparkly, wasn’t it?”

“Rosé, you saw it wrong.”

“Oppa, you’re about to make a marriage proposal to Sera, aren’t you?”

Ignoring Helios’s calm excuse, Rosé blurted out the question.
