Chapter 282

Helios slowly opened his eyes. He felt heavy and silent, as if he had been submerged in the deep, cold sea for a long time.

“Are you alright, Your Majesty?”

Araella, who had used magic to enter Sera’s dream just moments before, approached Helios to check on his condition.

Though she extended her hand to help him up, he shook his head, indicating he didn’t need assistance, and slowly rose from his seat.

“I’m fine. How is Sera?”

“Still…”

At the question of whether there had been any change, Jean cautiously responded.

Helios sighed heavily and quietly observed Sera, who was still deep in slumber.

Sera.

No matter how many times he called her name internally, a lonely smile formed on his lips.

Sera, in the dream, was in an unfamiliar, foreign space, but she looked much healthier, with the same face as always.

Fortunately, in the depths of her memory, she still remembered him and his younger siblings.

She had so easily recalled the names ‘Ferreritan’ and ‘Roseline’.

And so easily recognized the look in his eyes as he gazed at her.

Helios was certain that not only fear resided in those trembling irises.

Even if she was not consciously aware, Sera longed for him just as he longed for her.

“Your Majesty, time in the subconscious and the present do not flow the same. Please, do not be too disheartened. If you wait a little longer…”

Worried by his silent gaze fixed only on Sera, Roward cautiously spoke up.

Helios nodded quietly in agreement.

“Yes…”

It was natural for it to take this time for something so uncertain.

As he turned away from Sera,

“Your Majesty! Miss Popo has…”

One of the priests infusing divine energy into Sera urgently called out to Helios.

In the midst of the sudden commotion, Helios was short of breath.

The last remaining mark of the curse on Sera, which had shown no signs of change until now, was beginning to fluctuate.

Amidst the crumbling scenery, Sera called out the names of those she longed for one by one.

“Heli…”

“Rosé…”

“Ferre…”

With each name called, memories related to them grew clearer.

“Teacher, are you okay?”

Noticing Sera’s unusual state, the principal, looking very concerned, asked.

Calmly meeting those red eyes, Sera finally grasped everything and took a deep breath.

He had been watching her from the closest distance all along.

“Belzebuth.”

When she called out that name forcefully, he tilted his head slightly.

“Have you realized?”

Belzebuth, realizing that Sera had remembered everything, looked disappointed but calmly stood up from his seat.

As he walked closer without making a sound, the facade surrounding him peeled away, revealing his true form.

Not Saruvia, not a human, but a demon with red eyes.

Startled by his revealed appearance, Sera’s body froze momentarily in terror.

“So, you’ve finally figured it out.”

His eerie voice scraped against her ears.

Despite wanting to flee from him and this place and realizing it was a dead end, Sera stood her ground without running away.

“Where is this place?”

Sera asked Belzebuth with a trembling voice.

It was clear this was not reality.

The school had vanished without a trace, and suddenly she was back at the place where she had attempted to seal the demon, standing in the exact same position as when she had stabbed him with the holy artifact.

‘Am I dead? Or did the sealing fail?’

When she thought to herself, Belzebuth answered,

“Your dream.”

“Dream?”

“Originally, after the sealing, you should have died immediately, but it seems Helios couldn’t let you go. Thanks to him keeping you alive, I survived as well. An outcome neither of us expected, I suppose.”

So he did use his divine power as planned.

A wave of relief washed over her, knowing she was alive, but simultaneously, Sera realized the sealing was incomplete.

Belzebuth, who should have vanished with her death, remained because she was still alive.

“What are you thinking?”

Sera felt uneasy about Belzebuth’s actions, growing anxious.

If the sealing wasn’t complete, he could have taken over her body like he did with Saruvia. The reason he hadn’t…

The answer wasn’t hard to find.

“You’ve weakened, haven’t you?”

As if hit right on the mark, the ease disappeared from the demon’s expression.

“The seal isn’t perfect, but it didn’t fail. That’s why you don’t have enough power to take over my body, right?”

Belzebuth’s lips twisted into a snarl. Just that was enough for Sera to be certain of her guess.

“Wasn’t it a rather pleasant dream? Living here, comfortably keeping only happy memories. It isn’t such a bad idea, is it?”

Belzebuth again suggested, with a smooth voice, that he intended to trap her in that dream once more.

Memories of the family and friends she loved in her past life, happy moments she cherished, flashed before her eyes.

Sera closed her eyes, trying to erase the forcibly emerging memories.

The fleeting happiness she had felt for a while was all an illusion, and she knew well that her life there had long ended.

She wasn’t foolish enough to be lost in vain dreams.

“It’s useless.”

Sera shook her head from side to side in response.

Belzebuth, realizing his method wasn’t working, began to try a different approach.

“If you wish, there’s another way.”
