Chapter 84

After receiving that expulsion laced with a threat, Demos finally left, huffing as he went.

He looked like he wanted to grab me by the collar, but rather, it looked like he was scared that I might actually go around talking.

The last words he left were…

—Wait and see, Roella. You’ll regret this.

That was all.

‘Why does the male lead keep acting like some third-rate villain?’

It felt like watching a villain who gets beaten up daily, only to disappear with a ‘You’ll see!’ though it seemed he never really would follow through.

“Hmph. Just babbling.”

Truthfully, I hadn’t intended to let the argument escalate this far.

After all, I was a ducal lady and a saintess.

Above all, I feared that my reputation would be damaged.

But while listening to his drivel, I couldn’t help but retort.

How could someone spout such nonsense with such dedication?!

‘He’s a total nuisance. In my past life, he’d definitely be on every blacklist in the world.’

Thanks to my clash with Demos, my once precious and grand reputation dropped by three points, just as I feared.

But I had no regrets.

If a three-point reputation drop brought this much refreshment, it wasn’t that bad of a deal.

‘My next meeting is important. I can’t possibly go there while I’m still annoyed.’

As soon as I returned to my room, I changed my clothes. I dressed up far more elaborately than when I had met Demos.

Mary and Jane were overly excited and took quite a few liberties with the adornment.

“You look so beautiful, Milady!”

“Ah, the best lady indeed. It’s the undeniable truth.”

Amid the embarrassing praise, I sneakily glanced at myself in the mirror.

‘Wow, my face is really something else.’

It was always thrilling and pleasing to behold.

I love being pretty. It’s electrifying.

Dressing up makes me prettier. More electrifying.

The displeasure and discomfort from Demos faded away like magic.

Face therapy is the best.

“Then I must be off. The carriage is ready, right?”

“Yes, Milady. You can go out now.”

“Have a safe trip, Milady. You got this!”

With the well-wishes of the two, I boarded the carriage and headed to my destination.

To meet a properly scheduled guest, not an impromptu one like Demos.

“Thank you for the invitation, Your Highness.”

“I should be the one thanking you for accepting my invitation.”

A slightly stiff but polite response followed my respectful greeting.

Lifting my head to face Hildeon, his visage was…

‘Today, too, he’s conquering the world with his face.’

I barely managed to suppress my admiration.

His cool and aloof expression.

Slightly upturned eyes and deep green irises.

There wasn’t a single flaw to be found.

Especially after meeting with that trash Demos, Hildeon shone even brighter.

His demeanor might be a bit intimidating, but he’s polite, and his expression showed exceeding kindness.

‘He’s a hundred times better than Demos, who only pretends to be affectionate. Why are people afraid of Hildeon?’

Perhaps it’s his muscular physique, tall stature, expressionless face, and fierce demeanor. From a young age, Hildeon often faced misunderstandings.

Especially during his childhood, his peers would burst into tears just seeing him.

This led to a shocked Hildeon distancing himself from people, and the rumors only grew.

Now that he’s older, it’s a bit better, but he still symbolizes fear.

Particularly with his honorable nickname from the war:

〈 Bringer of Misfortune 〉

A moniker given by the enemy, as mere encounters with him meant loss of life.

For such a heroic figure, his current treatment was…

‘If Roella’s a villainess, then Hildeon feels like the demon king.’

That’s why the victory celebration ball was also glossed over.

He was a man surrounded by so many unfair circumstances.

Just a few conversations with him would reveal that Hildeon was a good person.

‘Well, if it weren’t for the original novel, I might have been scared of Hildeon too.’

Suddenly, a wave of camaraderie flooded over me.
