Despite Being an Extra, I'm the Villain's Childhood Friend - Chapter 57.1
Chapter 57.1
He hadn’t meant any harm. He was simply curious about Izeline’s mana attributes and had thought taking a shortcut would be the easiest way to find out.
“Come here.”
Gerald, having soothed his aching back with healing magic, gestured to Izeline, his irritation evident.
Robert and Michael trailed behind her, curious about her attributes and wary of what Gerald might do. They crunched through the snow-covered garden to a secluded corner.
There, on a patch of ground hastily cleared of snow, a complex magic circle had been drawn.
“Stand here. Close your eyes. Breathe calmly.”
Izeline obeyed, her heart pounding with nervous anticipation. What would Gerald’s reaction be if she had no attribute at all? She worried, recalling his confident assertion that she possessed magical talent, even wagering his life on it.
‘He won’t be furious, will he…?’
As if on cue, a cool touch grazed her forehead. A warm wave, emanating from Gerald’s hand, spread through her body—the sensation of flowing mana.
‘How strange.’
A sense of tranquility washed over her as she surrendered to the mana’s flow. Though firmly planted on the ground, she felt as light as air, as if she were floating.
‘This feels wonderful…’
After the sensation lingered for a while, the exploring energy receded, and she opened her eyes, anxiety gnawing at her.
“Oh?”
Izeline gasped, her eyes widening as the magic circle surrounding her shimmered, a blend of white and black.
“Light and…”
“Darkness?”
Michael and Robert, who had been watching with anticipation, voiced their astonishment.
Water, fire, earth, wind, light, and darkness—the six attributes of magical mana. Light and darkness were the rarest of all.
To be born with both…
“…Incredible.”
Gerald murmured, equally stunned.
“Light and darkness are opposing forces. How can someone be born with both?”
It was one thing to develop them later, but to be born with them…
While everyone was reeling in surprise, Izeline stood frozen.
‘Why…?’
Why did she possess magical talent?

Clang! Clash!
Swords clashed in a flurry of sparks.
Robert and Michael sparred in the center of the training grounds, their hair damp with sweat despite the winter chill, a testament to their evenly matched skills. Michael’s swift blade probed for openings while Robert parried each thrust just in time.
At first glance, it seemed like their usual practice. However, Oren observed them with a discerning eye.
Clang!
“Ugh!”
A jolt shot up Robert’s arm to his elbow, forcing a groan from his lips. His grip faltered, unable to deflect the blow.
Screech!
Taking advantage of the close proximity, Michael spoke.
“Lost in thought?”
Clang!
Their swords separated.
“Was I going too easy on you?”
Robert glared silently at the smirking boy. Even though he had been distracted, he didn’t need Michael pointing it out.
“Izel doesn’t belong in a place like this.”
‘I know. I know she shines wherever she goes.’
