Despite Being an Extra, I'm the Villain's Childhood Friend - Chapter 48.1
Chapter 48.1
The bustling city streets were traversed by three individuals. Leading the way, with slow and steady steps, was Robert, who unexpectedly had a place to visit before heading to the information guild.
“Where are you going?”
When Oren asked languidly, placing both hands on the back of his head, Robert frowned as if to say, “Stop nagging.”
“We’re almost there.”
The place they arrived at was a fruit shop.
“Three oranges for five percs! Come on in. We have some really delicious fruit in stock.”
The owner greeted them, seeing the three of them. Then, Oren, who wasn’t interested in fruit, uttered bluntly.
“This guy. Do you want fruit? I’ll buy it for you, so let’s go quickly.”
“At this hour…”
Robert didn’t reply and kept looking at the crowded street. Michael asked curiously.
“Who did you meet?”
“He’s here.”
At the same time as he said that, Robert jumped out into the crowd. They thought it was a promised meeting, but judging from the other person’s reaction, it didn’t seem to be.
“Uh, uh? Y-young master?!”
“Shh.”
“How did you get here…”
“Follow me.”
“Huh? I’m on my mother’s errand…”
The rest of the sentence was cut off.
Oren and Michael tilted their heads in unison as they watched Camry, who was about a head taller, being dragged by Robert.
However, Camry was the most embarrassed.
As usual, he had come out to buy fruits and vegetables for Julie’s errands once a week, and he was being dragged somewhere without knowing why. While he lived a fairly regular life, Robert, who had figured out Camry’s pattern over the past few years, had unilaterally decided to kidnap him.
Camry whispered, looking at him.
“Young master, where are you going?”
“Shut up and follow me.”
After the slave trade incident three years ago, Camry had been living under Robert’s control. He had apologized, but the guilt remained. Nonetheless, as time went by, it seemed that something was going wrong.
[ Izel is hiding and wants to eat chicken. You should come too. ]
[ Hide this secretly. I’m going to surprise Izel. ]
[ I miss Julie’s potatoes, so bake some. ]
[ Do this, do that. ]
[ Come here until now. Now go. ]
It must be his imagination.
The feeling of being like a direct subordinate…
Camry followed his master without a word, feeling uneasy.
They arrived at a restaurant.
Oren opened the door and took the lead. Robert looked around at the people who were sitting at the tables in groups of three or four, half in doubt. As Michael had said, it was a place he had been to with Izeline.
No matter how he looked at it, it was an ordinary restaurant, but was this really the information guild?
He remembered when he came here with the children and ordered a roast turkey. The owner had offered them a beer, saying, “Would you like a beer?” At that time, Izeline said something with her small lips. He thought she said.
“No alcohol, just a glass of warm milk.”
A chuckle escaped Robert’s lips at the pointless memory. The owner’s eyes widened in surprise when she spoke in a voice like a chick, and then he burst out laughing, thinking it was funny, and gave her milk as a service, but surely that owner wouldn’t…
“No alcohol. Just bring a glass of warm milk.”
Robert swallowed his laughter as he watched Oren speak to the man in his memory. Surely, that was the password?
The owner looked at Oren up and down with a cautious look and whispered quietly.
“Where?”
“I’d like to hear the sound of birds chirping.”
“This way.”
The man, who had confirmed the password, immediately led the four of them. He glanced curiously at the three children trailing behind Oren but said nothing.
When they finally reached a deep place after passing through the warehouse, the owner, or rather the guild member, unlocked the lock in a secretive manner. Then, a staircase leading to the underground space unfolded.
“Young master…”
At this point, Camry felt a creeping sense of unease. It seemed that he had been dragged to a strange place.
“So this is how it is.”
On the other hand, Michael, who was walking ahead, muttered in a refreshing voice. He knew that this was the information guild base in the Souvri Branch, but it was the first time he had entered with a password.
As they finished descending the stairs, a person wearing a robe was sitting at a table. A woman with bright red lipstick greeted them with a smile.
“What a peculiar combination of guests.”
“Long time no see, Kirscha.”
“It’s been three years.”
Oren was on familiar terms with the guild leader of the Souvri Branch. The first time he came here, he had investigated Duke Brioche, and that was how they met. Perhaps thinking it was the same as before, Kirscha looked at Oren as though to tell him to speak.
“Today, it’s not me, but this guy who has business.”
