Chapter 143

Translator: Yonnee

—

Rainy days were the worst.

His whole body was soaked, and his vision was obscured.

In truth, when Tuvio and a few of his subordinates entered the mansion, his first thought was to find shelter from the rain rather than to search for Dietrich.

But there was someone there.

A woman with platinum blonde hair and blue eyes.

She was the most beautiful woman Tuvio had ever seen.

He found himself staring, as if spellbound, when the woman asked,

“Do you know Dietrich?”

Up until that moment, he thought he was lucky.

He thought everything was going smoothly, but then…

“Aaaargh! Aaaaah!”

One of his subordinates, struck by Dietrich’s sudden sword strike, clutched his slashed arm and rolled on the ground.

What the hell had this madman done?

Tuvio stared at Dietrich, frozen in shock.

He had known Dietrich for a long time, long enough to bear a grudge against him, and he knew him well.

That weak, spineless fool who, despite his overwhelming abilities, could never secure his own position.

It was because of this that Tuvio had taken Dietrich’s place.

He had seen Dietrich foolishly engaging in relief work in front of the temple.

A man who was annoyingly kind. So much so that it bordered on stupidity.

A weakling who had once gripped his sword in torment, unable to strike anyone.

That was the Dietrich Tuvio knew.

But now…

“What… What the hell are you doing?!”

Tuvio shouted in shock.

Dietrich turned to him with a cold, emotionless expression, devoid of any warmth.

The once clear violet eyes were now completely devoid of light.

As Tuvio stared into that abyss, his body tensed up with fear.

“Dietrich!”

The woman behind them seemed equally alarmed.

She grabbed Dietrich in a panic.

“S-Stop, Dietrich.”

Her voice trembled as she called his name, clearly shaken by what she had just witnessed.

In that moment, a warm smile appeared on Dietrich’s otherwise emotionless face.

Tuvio stared in disbelief. Dietrich had always been kind, but his expressions had always been consistently neutral.

A man who rarely smiled, who rarely got angry, who was stiff in his demeanor.

Yet, there was always a gentleness in his actions.

“Charlotte, did I startle you?”

The way Dietrich treated the woman was nothing short of shocking.

Not only had this maniac briefly shown a glimpse of his old self, but he also smiled—a smile that even his closest comrades had never seen.

“Put down the sword, Dietrich.”

“But, Charlotte…”

“Now!”

“…Alright.”

Clang!

Dietrich casually dropped the sword to the floor.

Who was this woman, that he would so easily relinquish his weapon?

Tuvio gritted his teeth.

“Dietrich, you bastard! Do you even realize what you’ve done?!”

Tuvio pointed to his subordinate, who was lying on the ground, clutching his wound.

“Not only did you desert from the holy order, but you also attacked the search party that was sent to find you! This is a betrayal and an insult to the temple! You’ve committed a grave crime!”

Tuvio shouted, raising his sword.

He couldn’t forgive this.

How dare Dietrich disrespect him to such an extent?

He was nothing now.

A fool who had lost his original position and authority to Tuvio.

“You pathetic bastard! You couldn’t even complete a single mission, and now you’re fooling around with a woman?!”

Tuvio glanced at the woman.

She clung even tighter to Dietrich’s arm. To Tuvio, she looked scared, but it was the opposite.

He did not realize that she was the one holding Dietrich back.

“If the temple finds out about this, neither you nor that woman will be spared!”

“Tuvio.”

Dietrich called his name quietly.

His calm voice carried a subtle warning.

Dietrich’s violet eyes looked at Tuvio.

And in those eyes was a chilling gaze.

It reminded Tuvio of the boy who had once effortlessly knocked him down in front of the other kids.

“You wretched bastard! You always bring about your own downfall! You and that woman will both be torn apart! You will both die!”
