Through his partially unbuttoned clothing, Elaina could see his chest rising and falling steadily.

After slipping out the back door, Elaina entered the forest and hid among the bushes.
“Where did everyone go?”
Was she the only one who fell here?
She murmured softly, pulling at her hair in frustration.
‘If only Luca had been by my side, his abilities would have surely helped somehow…’
She thought of the dragon who always appeared at the moment of crisis, effortlessly resolving everything.
Her nose felt tingly, but she quickly hardened her expression and shook her head.
‘No, Luca will leave me someday.’

She had known the risks of going to the island but still convinced her parents to let her come.
She had sensed that the danger was significant enough to influence the world beyond just her life.

Maybe she should pick some fruits or mushrooms. But if she just eats anything she finds, it could be poisonous.

“Have you seen any humans coming out of there?”
She didn’t know for sure, but it seemed like the townsfolk offered ‘sacrifices’ to Noah.
That ‘sacrifice’ likely meant a living human.
If Noah had been eating those sacrifices, then there wouldn’t be any humans stepping out of the temple.

However, the bear averted its gaze as if to ignore her question.
