Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 335
Chapter 335
“Usually, dragons marry within their own kind and produce offspring. Marrying another species? Well, unless they’re some sort of pervert…”
“Pervert?”
Elaina raised an eyebrow at the unfamiliar term, and Luca quickly added before she could even think to ask.
“Only the strangest of individuals would consider it.”
The fact that there were indeed such individuals, even if rare, piqued Elaina’s interest. Her eyes gleamed with curiosity as she listened to Luca’s unusual story.
“So, was there another dragon besides you?”
“No, I’m the last dragon.”
“Ah…”
“Don’t look so shocked. Dragons went extinct before I was even born, so I don’t have any particular feelings about it.”
So, Luca would have to spend the rest of his life—or rather, his dragon life—alone.
As Elaina imagined this scenario for a moment, she found herself thinking.
‘That’s not so bad…’
It was strange how her mood brightened. Why did the thought of Luca having to live in solitude without any fellow dragons make her feel better? She couldn’t quite figure it out.
‘Maybe I’m really that mean.’
She had always thought she was decent for a Valentine, but now she was struck by the realization of her own nature.
Just then, Luca, seemingly intent on keeping her on track, placed his hands on her shoulders and said.
“So, if you weren’t proposed to, why bring it up? You haven’t answered that part yet.”
“Ah… It wasn’t them proposing…”
“Not them?”
They probably had the intention of marriage, but the proposal was the parents’ job. Marriage discussions were for the adults…
“Ella?”
Luca pressed her for an answer, noticing her hesitation.
‘Why is it so hard to speak…’
It was likely because she knew exactly how everyone, including Luca, would react.
Elaina couldn’t help but sympathize with the noble families who had to deal directly with their parents.
‘Wait, are those four noble families actually planning to discuss my marriage in front of my parents?’
If so, she had to give them credit for their bravery. Truly.
If there were an award for the bravest individuals, it would undoubtedly go to them.
Elaina made a face of slight disgust but then defended the unfortunate young nobles on their behalf.
“They’re just poor kids who were pushed by their parents to come here and make an impression on me.”
“Hmm.”
Luca stared intently at the young nobles for a moment, then realized something.
“So that’s what this is. The high nobility social gathering was just a front for this ‘Battle for Lady Valentine.”
“You’re mad.”
Luca’s eyes flashed with a dangerous glint as he suddenly stood up. Elaina, startled by his intense reaction, instinctively grabbed him.
“Ella, let go. I just wanted to have a chat with people.”
You mean a physical chat!
“No, I won’t. I’m not getting married anyway!”
“…Not getting married?”
Elaina was, of course, a noble. While she didn’t need to marry now, she would eventually have to enter a political marriage once she grew up. The Valentine line couldn’t be allowed to end here.
“But now I have a younger sibling.”
She pointed to Astin, standing alone among the crying children.
“He’ll carry on the Valentine line.”
Astin, blissfully unaware of the noble duties he was being assigned, smiled brightly.
“Hmm.”
Luca’s eyes narrowed like Elaina’s. He was clearly displeased.
“And we came here for a different reason, didn’t we?”
“…”
“Those people are just a smokescreen. Are you going to speak out of both sides of your mouth?”
“Ha…”
Luca sighed as if resigned to his fate and stepped back. He shrugged dramatically and spoke as if wounded by his own tragic fate.
“You say that, but as soon as you find someone you like, you’ll leave me all alone~”
“What? When did I ever do that?”
“Just three years ago, you did.”
Luca’s eyes took on a pitying look as he added.
She tried to meet that Briyon or whatever and got into trouble for meeting him secretly without telling Luca.
“It’s not Briyon, it’s Brian…”
Elaina’s face flushed bright red at the mention of that long-forgotten, embarrassing history.
“And I never had feelings for him! I just wanted to give you a birthday gift I made myself!”
“Really? Can you promise me that?”
Luca playfully extended his finger.
“Yes!”
Elaina hooked her pinky finger onto his in anger.
Seeing Luca’s satisfied smile made Elaina feel oddly uneasy…
“Well, at least Brother is generous. If you ever find someone you like, bring them to me. I’ll check if they’re a decent match.”
Isn’t that the same as telling her to stay single?
He would probably turn them down even if they were perfect, down to their very breath.
‘And… besides, you’re not going to be around forever anyway…’
Elaina recalled a memory she had briefly forgotten, or rather, had tried to forget.
While Elaina could read people’s thoughts, memories, and emotions, she didn’t know everything. Especially the memories of dragons that Luca possessed, which her still-developing abilities and body couldn’t fully comprehend.
She only grasped the surface of them.
What she did know for sure was that in twelve years, she would have to return all her emotions to God. This meant that the abilities of Lloyd, Aria, and herself would likely disappear and return to God.
