Beast in the Woods, Deep in the Night - Chapter 35.1
Chapter 35.1
Edgar moistened his lips with the liquor in his glass and looked at Christine.
Christine had chosen a simple black velvet dress. The dress firmly hugged her chest, waist, hips, and buttocks, all the way to her thighs.
His deep green eyes scanned her curves at a slower rate than the water droplets in the glass glided across the surface.
She seemed to know how to stand out. Normally, a black dress would make the person wearing it look dull as if they were going to a funeral, but with her bright platinum hair flowing down, she didn’t seem to have a gloomy impression.
However, the others wouldn’t be able to remember what kind of hairstyle she had because they would be staring at her pearl necklace, not knowing whether it was hanging from her neck or resting on her upper chest.
“What do you think? I wore the necklace you gave me.”
Christine smiled brightly. Edgar stared at the necklace and stood up from his chair. It was time to go to the banquet hall.
Both the necklace and the body wearing the necklace, which looked carefully calculated and drawn, aroused a feeling of lust in him. Her eyes, pretending to be innocent without any intention, added fuel to his lust.
Walking half a step ahead of her, Edgar took off his jacket as they approached the main building.
Christine, who had been thinking the breeze was a little chilly, was quite surprised by his favor.
“Edgar. If you keep sending me signals like this with that handsome face, I won’t give up and keep seducing you.”
“Signals?”
Edgar asked back, as if wondering when he had sent her any signals. Christine, who had studied the method of capturing someone’s heart to the point where she could write a book about it, clicked her tongue inwardly.
If wearing a shirt that revealed the contours of his muscular torso, having a few buttons undone, and lending her his jacket wasn’t a signal, then what was it?
“Now that I think about it, I don’t think you inherited the blood of wolves, but the blood of foxes.”
Christine pouted at him and draped the jacket over her shoulders. It was clear that if she spoke to someone while wearing his clothes, they would respond in a friendly manner.
‘I’m somehow attending another guild’s banquet, so I should get information if the opportunity arises.’
As an elite guild member, she wanted to gather useful information even when she left the Black Fang Guild after a month. Of course, this didn’t mean that she was going to steal and sell the secrets of the guild that took care of her for a while.
However, it would be okay to remember and use the advanced information that those working at one of the best of the three guilds in the empire inadvertently spilled.
She clung to Edgar’s side and entered the hall where the banquet was taking place. A space so extravagant that it was incomparable to the hall of Baron Goldman greeted her.
Bright lights were illuminating the entire area, expensive drinks on the tables, and so many guild members filling the large space. Christine was overwhelmed by the size of the Black Fang Guild.
She naturally drew comparisons between this place with the Golden Horseshoe Guild.
Had Duff, a baron who saved money like a penny-pincher, ever given a banquet like this for the guild members?
Christine suppressed her sorrow with a smile. It was good to get some information, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep Edgar by her side for a while and quench her thirst with a free drink.
While she and Edgar were looking at the young chimeras and tasting champagne, the terrace of the banquet hall was filled with mixed emotions.
Of the three men there, Decius was the first to speak.
“Well now, I think the bet results are out, so it’s time to collect the money.”
Decius grinned and held out his hand. Then the other two men on the terrace both dropped a gold coin over his hand.
“I can’t believe it either. I can’t believe someone is wearing Edgar’s clothes.”
Even though he had lost the bet and handed over a gold coin, Isaac didn’t feel bad. He was also happy that Edgar was attending a banquet with someone so intimate to him that they would wear his clothes.
‘It was a good thing I entrusted a local artisan to make a pearl necklace.’
He had something to personally thank Christine for, so he thought it would be a good idea to have Edgar deliver the pearl necklace to her. Isaac was satisfied with his judgment.
However, the man standing next to him wearing a mask still couldn’t keep his mouth shut.
“Unbelievable. Does Edgar really… have a lover?”
