Battle Divorce! - Chapter 34
Chapter 17.2
This pervert had said he found defiance especially arousing, so resisting would only excite him more. But how was she supposed to stop him without resisting? As Daisy racked her brain for a solution, feeling cornered, a dry chuckle escaped Maxim, his warm breath fanning across her cheeks.
“First the cigar, then me…”
At the same time, the object Daisy had been hiding behind her back was suddenly in his hand.
“And now a revolver, too.”
It was the gun.
Maxim’s gaze turned cold as he inspected the revolver.
What was she supposed to say? Her mind blanked under the pressure. Feeling her spine go rigid, she gulped.
“….”
“Playing with dangerous toys while looking so innocent. What a nasty little habit.”
“I-I wasn’t hiding it on purpose.”
“You shouldn’t lie.”
For a brief moment, his gray-blue eyes darkened.
“When you interrogate prisoners long enough, you learn to spot when someone’s lying just by looking at their eyes.”
Now that he was holding the gun, she figured it was safest to play along for the moment.
Daisy couldn’t exactly tell him she’d been trying to provoke him into divorcing her, so she doubled down on her earlier excuse of kleptomania.
“I’m sorry. It looked expensive, and I couldn’t help myself… I know I shouldn’t have.”
It was true that the elegant design of the gun had tempted her, so at least that part wasn’t a lie.
Though everything she’d say after this would be a complete lie.
“I thought I could sell it to a fence I know and make a decent profit. That’s really it.”
“Next time you need money, just tell me.”
Maxim let out a soft sigh and handed the revolver back to Daisy.
“Only play with things like this in front of me. Understood?”
Wait, is he giving this to me?
Daisy stared down at the revolver in her hand, utterly dumbfounded.
“W-why are you giving this to me? Am I allowed to sell it?”
“Not a chance.”
Maxim chuckled and gave her cheek a playful pinch.
“Do you know how to shoot?”
“…N-no, I know nothing about such things.”
Of course, she did, but there was no way she would admit it.
As Daisy shook her head with pitiful eyes, Maxim gently took her hand, adjusting her grip on the revolver, then demonstrated for her.
“It’s simple. Hold it like this.”
He pressed the barrel under his own chin. Daisy swallowed hard.
“Click, bang.”
For someone handing over a deadly weapon, his instructions were alarmingly casual. Even though the gun was pointed at his own head and pulling the trigger would blow his head off, Maxim didn’t seem the least bit concerned.
“S-so why are you giving me this…”
“Take it. For self-defense.”
“Self-defense…?”
“Yes. If I lose control and barge into the bathroom, shoot me.”
So this ‘self-defense’ weapon was meant to be used on him…
Even after hearing it, she could hardly believe the words coming out of his mouth.
Maxim’s lips stretched into a lazy smile. He leaned in close, his voice low and teasing, whispering in her ear as if he were sharing a secret.
“Even now, just picturing you undressing to take a shower…”
“…”
“…it makes me want to c*m.”
Good Lord. The obscenity of his words made her hairs stand on end. Daisy’s face burned.
“What are you doing? You left the water running. Go shower.”
With Maxim’s revolver in hand, Daisy suddenly found herself ushered into the bathroom.

He had told her to shoot him if he barged in, but Daisy had sworn off killing ever since becoming a child of the Lord.
So, as soon as she stepped inside, she locked the door, placed the revolver within arm’s reach, and began to wash.
‘Please, grant me the strength not to kill that man.’
She repeated the desperate prayer to the Lord in her mind.
Once she was done, Daisy clutched the revolver tightly with both hands and cautiously stepped out of the bathroom.
The room was eerily quiet.
‘…Is he already asleep?’
She’d stalled as much as she could, even taking the time to dry her hair completely before coming out. But was it possible he had dozed off already?
Her question was answered the moment her eyes landed on the bed. Leaning against the headboard, Maxim von Valdeck met her gaze directly.
His eyes curved into a smile.
Hah, why does he have to be so quiet? It’s unsettling.
“Come lie down.”
He patted the spot beside him, motioning for her to join him, but Daisy was frozen in place.
Maxim’s chest was completely bare… utterly, unapologetically shirtless.
