Battle Divorce! - Chapter 27
Chapter 14.1
She knew it was a blatant lie. Even if there were no servants, as he claimed, the former grand duchess still resided in the main suite on the fourth floor.
“She’s… ngh, on the fourth floor. P-please, just… stop.”
“Oh, yes. My aunt. I keep forgetting about that. Thank you for reminding me, Izzy.”
Typical. Coming from a man who had shamelessly hinted at his scandalous behavior during a formal dinner, it wasn’t surprising in the least.
“Should I let her hear just how energetic you’ve become after eating so well?”
“N-no… hngh, d-don’t…!” Daisy frantically shook her head.
This crazy freak. Was he planning to have s*x or not? This back-and-forth behavior was making him look far from sane.
“I’ll let you in on a little secret.”
Maxim leaned in close, his upper body pressing against her panting chest. His warm breath tickled her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
“It’d do you well to remember this. It’ll come in handy if you ever want to control or tame me.”
“Haa, nghh.”
“The more you squirm, the more it turns me on, Izzy.”
Sure enough, something heavy and hot twitched against Daisy’s stomach.
What a lunatic. He couldn’t even control himself, and now he was hard again.
Daisy’s forehead creased into a scowl.
“It’s pitiful, almost adorable, the way you struggle to escape. When I see that, I just want to torment you until you cry. To crush your spirits until you stop fighting.”
“Agh, ugh, you… you twisted pervert…!”
“I told you. I like how energetic you are.”
His tastes were beyond saving.
She needed to get away from him, even if it meant pretending to be weak. That trick seemed to work on the b*stard before. If her struggling only aroused him more and made him enjoy her “energetic-ness,” there was no reason to make things easier for him.
“Hic… that– that hurts, sob, let me go.”
“Think about it. What do you think it’ll take for me to let you go?”
“Let— let me go, hng…”
“No, forget using your words. Show me through actions.”
If he got turned on by her struggling, maybe doing the opposite would work.
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, Daisy gradually let her body relax.
“That’s it.”
The moment she stopped resisting, Maxim’s grip finally loosened.
“Sorry. Did I hurt you? Perhaps I didn’t control my strength well enough. I’m still a bit drunk.”
“Hic… hgh…”
“Even so, I still have enough sense not to actually hurt you, so don’t worry.”
Absolutely disgusting. Maxim gently kissed Daisy’s reddened wrists, as if to soothe them.
“But if you keep tempting me, I can’t promise what might happen.”
She didn’t even have the energy to argue with his bullsh*t anymore. Or maybe it was more accurate to say her resolve had evaporated.
Was it because she was so shocked? Or was this entire situation just too absurd?
She couldn’t pinpoint why.
A flood of indescribable emotions made her face burn, and her vision blurred with unshed tears.
“Don’t cry.”
He cupped her cheeks, using his thumbs to wipe away the redness around her eyes.
“Haa, ngh…”
“Is the blood scaring you?”
No, that wasn’t it. She’d seen blood so many times that it didn’t faze her anymore.
The real reason was Maxim von Waldeck himself. It wasn’t fear—it was pure frustration that brought tears to her eyes.
Maxim von Waldeck. The b*stard was truly insane.
Maybe it was because he commanded a special forces unit, but she had to admit he possessed a strength far beyond any other man she’d faced before. And yet, that only made her angrier.
Combat wasn’t just about brute strength.
Daisy wasn’t particularly strong, but she’d always relied on speed and precision, exploiting openings and targeting weak points.
She was good at it. She had never failed. But with him, nothing worked.
Was she too slow? No, she knew she wasn’t.
After the headbutt that split his lip, Maxim von Waldeck left no more openings. It was as if he could predict her every move, blocking her with perfect accuracy.
‘I’m still “Easy.” The one known for swiftly eliminating her targets.’
How could she be so completely overpowered without landing a single effective hit? This was the first time she’d ever felt such utter humiliation.
She had once been sure her skills wouldn’t fade so easily. Maybe that year-long break was the problem…
At one point, they’d even called her an ace. Now, as a former assassin, her pride was wounded, and self-doubt crept in.
She had no idea how to cope with this newfound helplessness. It was, in every sense, a total disaster.
She wasn’t scared or intimidated. She was simply so infuriated that it brought tears to her eyes.
It was humiliating, but Daisy didn’t bother to hide her tears.
