Battle Divorce! - Chapter 17
Chapter 9.1
“What? What on earth do you me—”
“S*xual intercourse.”
When the former grand duchess asked in disbelief, Maxim provided her with the explicit answer.
“Cough, cough, ack, cough—”
Daisy choked, completely flustered by his blunt response, her face turning bright red.
“Izzy, are you all right?”
“Y-yes, I’m…”
“There’s no need to rush. Chew your food slowly.”
It was like rubbing salt into her wound. Maxim, sitting beside her, handed her a glass of water with a concerned expression.
“Take your time. If you drink too quickly, it’ll upset your stomach.”
His attentiveness was downright excessive. Maxim von Waldeck was the one bullsh*tting, so why was everyone staring at her? The former grand duchess and the maids, everyone was staring straight at Daisy, and it made her feel like crying.
“What an utter fool. I don’t see what’s so appealing about such a simpleton.”
The former grand duchess even clicked her tongue in distaste.
“Aunt.”
Hearing the cold edge in his voice, Daisy turned to look at Maxim. His gaze had hardened considerably.
What’s gotten into him now? Maybe it was the alcohol, but this already unpredictable man had a dazed look in his eyes and an even more dangerous aura about him.
“Didn’t Karen pass on my message?”
“What message?”
“To have been a servant for thirty years and still be so clueless… Useless. It seems she’ll need to be dismissed.”
At his openly sarcastic tone, the former grand duchess’s face darkened. Regardless, Maxim von Waldeck seemed to be the type of man who always spoke his mind.
“Since it appears you haven’t heard, let me be clear. Do not, under any circumstances, speak disrespectfully to my wife.”
The atmosphere turned ice-cold.
“M-Maxim, how dare you… speak to me like this…?”
“Why shouldn’t I?”
Staring straight at the now red-faced former grand duchess, Maxim von Waldeck responded with a smirk.
“If you show any disrespect toward my wife, then I won’t hesitate to act against you, even if I think of you as my own mother.”
“…”
“So, I’m giving you a warning before I’m forced to cross that line. Do you understand?”
His bold words left her completely stunned, at a loss for a response.
Daisy was equally shocked. She couldn’t believe her ears.
She was grateful, but… was it really necessary to confront her so aggressively?
He’d had a drink, and while she knew his temper was naturally hot-headed, he seemed especially quick-tempered now.
“Now that I am the Lord of Waldeck, I’d like to treat you, Aunt, as kindly as I would my own mother, so I hope you’ll cooperate.”
The dining room fell silent, as if a bucket of ice had been dumped over it.
Obviously offended, the former grand duchess finally set down her napkin and stormed out of the room. Maxim turned to Daisy with a triumphant smile.
“Daisy von Waldeck.”
“Yes, yes… what?”
Why was he suddenly using her full name? It felt ominous.
Daisy sucked in a breath, caught off guard.
“Is there something you’d like to do?”
“Something I’d like to do?”
“Whatever you wish for. As long as it’s within my power, feel free to ask.”
…Please grant me a divorce.
But saying that wouldn’t get her anywhere.
After pausing to think over his unexpected question, Daisy hesitated before responding.
“Well, in that case… I’d like to see my father. It’s been a while.”
First, she needed to confront that son of a b*tch Therese, who had thrown her into this ridiculous mission.

“I greet our nation’s hero, Grand Duke Waldeck.”
At the Therese Mansion.
Count Therese placed a hand over his heart and bowed respectfully.
He was Daisy’s boss, the leader of the secret organization “Clean,” and currently playing the role of Daisy’s fake father.
“Congratulations on your unprecedented victory. Thanks to you, Your Highness, we were able to preserve the kingdom’s honor.”
“You’re too kind.”
Those were just empty words.
Despite the grand flattery, Maxim von Waldeck offered no particular response, merely returning a faint smile.
The Count of Therese, Lucas Therese, was always courteous in public.
On the outside, he was the epitome of a high-ranking noble, but in secret, he led a revolutionary organization. Even after eliminating the idiots of the monarchy, he was a man who could flatter and banter without so much as blinking. One could even say he was like a snake, through and through.
“To what do I owe the honor of the kingdom’s hero visiting me here?”
Showing up late at night without prior notice was undoubtedly a breach of etiquette.
