Battle Divorce! - Chapter 10
Chapter 5.2
The only sound in the room was Maxim von Waldeck’s footsteps padding against the carpet.
After finishing his “speech,” he stopped directly behind Daisy, making her vision go dark.
Had she ever felt this nervous before, even in front of a target? Feeling as if her jaw might start trembling, Daisy clenched it tightly.
“A truly beautiful woman doesn’t need embellishments to look stunning. My wife is already so breathtaking that I’m worried about letting her out of my sight. What do you think, head maid? Is she lacking in any way?”
“No, not at all. She’s very beautiful.”
“Do the rest of you agree? Let’s hear what each of you has to say.”
Naturally, no one objected. Again.
“Of course, she is dazzlingly beautiful.”
“Absolutely, she’s an exceptionally rare beauty.”
“I’d say Her Highness is the most beautiful woman in the entire kingdom.”
Under the daunting atmosphere, a barrage of compliments was thrown her way. While Daisy tried to process the flood of forced praises, Maxim’s long fingers moved from her neck to her hairpin.
His steel-blue eyes scanned every inch of her face.
What is this? Why is he staring at me like that?
“Hmm.”
With a light tug, he released her platinum blonde hair, which instantly spilled down her sides and back.
“Your hair looks lovely when it’s down as well.”
Despite Daisy’s clear embarrassment, Maxim von Waldeck continued to fiddle with her hairpin, examining its sharp tip before casually tossing it to the head maid.
“Why is she wearing something so dangerous? The end is too sharp.”
The hairpin was something Daisy often kept as a weapon in case of emergencies. In an instant, she found herself unexpectedly disarmed.
“What if it pricks her delicate skin and injures her?”
“I-I apologize….”
“Pay attention to these things ahead of time and take care of them. Got it?”
“Yes.”
This time, his hand teasingly lifted her chin.
“Let’s see here.”
When their eyes met, his gaze softened, and he pressed his thumb firmly against her soft lips, rubbing them.
“You look better without wearing this stuff.”
As he smudged her lipstick into a ridiculous mess, Maxim chuckled slyly as if he found it adorable.
“And as for the clothes…”
Before Daisy could gather her thoughts, his fingers were already touching the hem of her silk gown. A shiver ran through her, and she held her breath as his touch caused the silk gown to slip, revealing her pale, rounded shoulder.
Maxim gently massaged her tense shoulder, his fingers hooking around the strap of her slip.
The corners of his mouth tilted into a smirk.
“… I’d say you look best with nothing on.”
This perverted bastard.
He can’t seriously be planning to undress me here, can he?
She was wearing only a pair of panties underneath. The last thing she wanted was to be stripped bare, especially in front of the maids, or Maxim von Waldeck.
The color drained from Daisy’s face.
“If anyone disagrees with me, feel free to speak up.”
Of course, no one dared to question or object.
“Then I’ll take it that there are no objections. I’m in a bit of a hurry, so everyone, get out.”
At their master’s cold command that demanded obedience to his orders, the maids left as swiftly as a receding tide.
Only Maxim and Daisy remained in the bedroom.
“W-wait a moment…”
Just as he was about to lower the strap of her slip, she grabbed his hand firmly.
This was an emergency.
“Is something the matter, my wife?”
Though Maxim had been intimidating just moments before, now that they were alone, he reverted to a polite tone. He seemed to imply that undressing was natural for the consummation of their marriage. Why was she stopping him?
What should I do? What on earth could I possibly do?
Her mouth felt dry, and her blood ran cold.
From this moment on, she could only rely on her quick thinking. If she made a misstep, there would be no avoiding the consummation.
She’d be stripped bare in seconds, with that intimidating thing of his pushing its way between her legs.
“Easy.”
“Yes? I-I mean, yes!”
Caught off guard by his commanding tone, Daisy instinctively responded in a questioning voice, then quickly corrected herself.
If she let herself be intimidated, she would lose.
Daisy prided herself on being strong-willed, though compared to a man who had just committed mass murder in a war, she felt incredibly small.
‘Wait… Easy? Did he just say… Easy?’
Surely, she must have misheard. Maybe she was just too nervous. Her mind felt scrambled.
“No need to be so tense. Just relax.”
Maxim’s lips brushed softly along her neck, soothing her. His touch was warm and tender, perhaps even excited. His breath tickled the back of her neck, making Daisy clench her fists.
“…Easy.”
She hadn’t misheard. He had definitely called her, “Easy.” Her hair stood on end, and a chill ran down her spine.
Easy.
“Easy” was her code name within the organization.
