At the End of the Hidden Greenery - Chapter 156
This business trip didn’t end with only good feelings. She ran into another group with malicious intentions, which left her feeling down, and there were a lot of things to worry about afterward. But, as expected, this old man had a way of reassuring people.
It was when Jiwoo was dozing off, listening to Helka’s voice.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
“Helka! Old man!”
Someone was banging loudly on the door.
It was Tevon’s voice, clearly upset. Since Jiwoo was the best at calming people down, she quickly got up from her resting position.
“Tevon’s here already. You know what that means, right? Helka, you need to apologize.”
“Yes.”
He really should apologize. Tevon had said he would rip off all of Helka’s beautiful hair…
Knowing that Tevon was weak to humor, Jiwoo tried to lighten the mood by greeting him with a bright smile.
“Tevon, you’re here?”
As Jiwoo opened the door, Tevon, having rushed back in a hurry, was panting heavily. His expression wasn’t exactly angry, but there was something about him that looked like he might burst into tears.
“Seo Jiwoo… something bad happened.”
Marron and Night, who had come along with him, were also with serious expressions.
“What? What happened?”
Had they gotten hurt on the way? Maybe the group attacked again now that Helka wasn’t with them? Or had they followed them here…? In the brief moment, all sorts of negative thoughts crossed Jiwoo’s mind.
Tevon squeezed his eyes shut, as if he was about to say something terrible.
“I have a bug in my ear…”
…Is it really that serious?
Jiwoo thought this for a moment but didn’t show it. She just kept her serious expression in response.
“Re, really? Where?”
Helka, who had been watching from behind, stepped forward.
“Come here. I’ll get it out.”
“No!”
Tevon panicked.
“I’m married now! I’m not letting the old man handle this!”
It seemed that because of his sensitive ears, he felt like a bug in his ear was a big deal. Even though he was usually so tough, he’d always had his older brother deal with such things when they happened.
“Why did you go and leave us there in the first place? I’m diurnal, I can’t see well at night, damn it!”
Clearly, Tevon had been eager to return quickly, so he’d rushed through the night, even though it was still dark.
He grumbled as he sweated profusely. One of his ears was hanging loosely as usual, but the other one was standing up stiffly against his face, showing just how uncomfortable he was.
“Should I get it out for you?”
Jiwoo offered, and Tevon nodded with his face turning red with embarrassment.
Jiwoo opened the door wider to let Tevon in and then motioned for Marron and Night to come inside as well.
“Marron and Night, come in too. Since you’re here, there’s something you can help with.”
“Us?”
“Yes.”
She handed them some chestnuts that had been soaked and told them to peel them.
Since the table was small, they all sat on the floor and began peeling the chestnuts together.
“Are you going to cook this for us?”
“Yes.”
It might have seemed like Jiwoo put them straight to work when they arrived, but they looked pleased. Everything that came from Ellandos was considered valuable.
They seemed excited about the fact that they could receive such a precious treat.
At first, when they tried peeling one chestnut each, they were slow, but soon, they worked skillfully and quickly, as if they had been born to peel chestnuts.
Helka was also peeling beside them, but compared to the other two, he wasn’t very fast.
“Tevon, go lie down over there.”
Normally, Tevon would have jumped at the suggestion and immediately picked Jiwoo up to lie down, but this time, because his ear was really bothering him, he obediently followed her.
Jiwoo sat on the bed, and Tevon rested his head on her thigh.
“If I use the tweezers, it should come out, right?”
“Yes, but be careful. If it goes deeper, it will eat away at the brain.”
“Is it really that dangerous?”
“Don’t worry, Seo Jiwoo. Just let the old man peel the chestnuts! Don’t peel the shells like that, huh!”
Tevon, lying on her thigh and grumbling at Helka, flinched when Jiwoo gently grabbed his ear to inspect the inside.
He reacted so sensitively that Jiwoo stopped and asked,
“Are you okay?”
“Uung…”
To inspect the ear, Jiwoo needed to tug on the outer ear, but even the slightest touch made him react intensely. Moreover, his moans weren’t from pain, but there was a slightly strange undertone to them. Being married, he probably didn’t want to leave it to his older brother, preferring to let his spouse handle it instead.
“Ah, uh…”
Tevon instinctively wiggled his ear, as if trying to shake the foreign object out.
It was true that when someone appeared so cute, there was no solution.
Living with these men as her husbands, Jiwoo seemed to discover more and more cute qualities in them as time went on.
“Tevon, stop moving your ear.”
“Huh…”
With his eyes tightly shut and his lips pressed together, Jiwoo felt like she was doing something very bad.
Tevon, perhaps feeling embarrassed by his continuous moans, quietly explained,
“I barely receive the power of the tree… The toxicity is almost nothing, it’s just that the bodily fluids are sweet…”
Tevon rarely looked upset.
For humans, insects in the ear usually liked dark, damp places or just accidentally got in, but for the children of Ellandos, it seemed that the insects might be attracted by the sweetness of their bodily fluids. It was probably one of the reasons they were more dangerous than humans…
Jiwoo had always thought the sweet smell of their sweat was pleasant, but it did come with some inconvenient drawbacks.
“By the way, Tevon is diurnal?”
“Yes.”
Instead of Tevon, who was biting his lip in an attempt to suppress his moans, Helka answered.
“Then are Marron and Night nocturnal?”
“I’m not. I’m just saying it has nothing to do with appearance.”
“I’m the only nocturnal.”
When Night answered so, it was so in tune with his name that Jiwoo was a little surprised.
“Really?”
“Isn’t it a well-suited name?”
“Yes. Wow, that’s cool.”
As Jiwoo listened further, she learned that as they returned to El Ragneil, her husbands were gradually returning to their original lifestyles.
One of the most noticeable changes was their activity patterns. They weren’t living like humans, staying active during the day and sleeping at night, as Jiwoo had assumed.
She had always thought that there were people she only saw at night, but as their lives were becoming more settled, it seemed that even that was becoming more defined.
