An Extra Who Wants To Escape The Obsessive Male Lead - Chapter 113.2
Chapter 113.2
“It’s said they passed peacefully. On their last day, they were found lying in their coffins instead of their beds.”
“Both the Duke and Duchess?”
“Yes. There were no signs of foul play or suicide.”
I was taken aback. It meant they passed away together as if falling asleep.
‘They wouldn’t have been lonely.’
“This is the tomb of the second Duke and Duchess of Argenta.”
He led me on, narrating the stories of each ducal couple. For someone paying respects, he spoke casually, without any formality.
“The seventh Duke remarried. It’s tradition to prepare one’s burial plot upon ascension, but his… required an extension.”
His expression soured.
“Remarried, huh.”
‘Was it due to something unpleasant?’
While remarriage was generally considered unfortunate, there were always various reasons for a couple to separate.
As expected, Diello answered.
“He had an affair.”
“Oh.”
‘And yet he still wanted to be buried with his first wife in the same tomb? What a…’
“And he left the Ferro?”
Diello turned to me.
“He was one of the heads who failed to awaken Ferro.”
That didn’t excuse his infidelity. He narrowed his eyes. So casually revealing his family’s scandals, he kissed the back of my hand and smiled softly.
“Don’t worry, that won’t happen with me.”
‘Was that why he looked so serious?’ I laughed.
“I never thought it would.”
“I’m glad I’ve earned your trust.”
His expression brightened slightly, and Diello led me onward. Past the tombs of the 11th and the 14th… past countless ducal couples and the grave’s extensions, we finally arrived at an empty space. There were no tombstones like in the other areas.
“This is…”
This section appeared to have been constructed recently. The door was slightly ajar. Diello, looking at the door, asked.
“Would you like to go inside?”
He hadn’t suggested entering any of the other tombs. His reason for doing so here was clear.
“Is this Diello’s place?”
Diello nodded.
“Yes.”
Then, there was no harm in taking a look. I gave a slight nod, and he led me inside. Down a short flight of stairs, a wide corridor opened into a single room.
“Originally…”
I looked at the right wall. There was a blocked-off space where another room seemed to have existed. The marks of recent construction were visible. And the room on the left originally seemed to have held only one coffin. But it appeared to have been expanded, now holding two coffins side by side.
“I didn’t think it was necessary to have separate rooms.”
Diello answered as he stepped into the room. Seeing one’s own future resting place while still alive was a strange feeling. Most people never knew what kind of coffin they would be buried in.
‘Of course, noble families are a bit different.’
I surveyed the room with a renewed sense of wonder, my gaze settling on the two coffins.
“That’s…”
One was undoubtedly Diello’s. And the other one beside it…
As if reading my mind, Diello responded.
“Yes, Krua.”
He looked at the coffins.
“This is…”
He seemed to be choosing his words carefully.
His expression, more tense than usual, betrayed his effort to remain composed. I thought I knew what he was about to say. That this was my place… or that he wanted me to stay with him until we reached this point. That he wanted me to stay in Argenta—
“Where Krua will die.”
His words stopped my train of thought.
‘Excuse me?’
