An Extra Who Wants To Escape The Obsessive Male Lead - Chapter 112.1
Chapter 112.1
“Though it’s a simple meal, please eat your fill.”
Lady Yuria spoke before a table laden with so much food it looked as if it might collapse. Even Redias seemed unsure where to begin, suggesting this wasn’t their usual fare.
“Thank you for the meal.”
I picked up my utensils with genuine pleasure, not wanting to offend Lady Yuria’s generous hospitality.
“Ah, should I have someone attend to you?
Lady Yuria began, though I waved my hand dismissively.
“It’s fine. I’m comfortable.”
With servants hovering, our conversation would undoubtedly become more constrained. My words brought a smile to Lady Yuria’s face.
“I saw you exploring the garden earlier.”
“Oh.”
I glanced at Diello.
He returned a knowing smile. We were undoubtedly thinking the same thing.
‘I wonder if Yuria and Redias know about the secret space within the bushes?’
“I’d heard that House Alors’s garden, befitting a family that commands water, was magnificent… This one is quite small, isn’t it?”
I shook my head at Yuria’s comment.
“A large garden isn’t necessarily a good one.”
The garden I’d glimpsed during my visits to the Alors estate had always seemed lifeless. Despite being meticulously arranged and filled with blooming flowers, it lacked any sense of joy or use.
It felt like a seldom-used park, or… a collection neglected by its owner.
In contrast, I much preferred this vibrant garden, a place that so effortlessly evoked an image of Yuria reclining in a wicker chair, peacefully enjoying the space.
This place where Diello’s childhood memories slumbered.
“I’m so glad you found such a wonderful person, Lord Diello.”
Yuria beamed.
After the meal, we explored the house.
The room Diello occasionally used as a child was still kept tidy. And beyond it, in front of the room Redias and Yuria shared, stood a massive bookshelf. Its titles, however, were rather unusual: ‘The Monster Knight’s Wife: A Survival Guide,’ ‘Don’t Look for the Departed Princess,’ ‘I Raised a Knight, Only to Be Devoured.’
And judging by the covers adorned with fluttering flower petals…
I pulled one out.
Sure enough…
“…Novels?”
Romantic novels, filled with passionate love, no less. I opened ‘The Monster Knight’s Wife: A Survival Guide’, but quickly closed it, a blush creeping up my cheeks.
“Do you enjoy them, My Lady?”
Yuria asked. I found myself nodding slightly.
“A little…”
Though ‘a little’ was probably an understatement. Reading novels was a hobby of mine.
I offered a faint smile. While we examined the bookshelf, Redias and Diello conversed a short distance away.
“…the defenses…”
“Not yet…”
‘Oh, not work again!’
I narrowed my eyes.
Just then, Lady Yuria spoke, her cheeks flushed.
“He’s such a romantic, isn’t he? His proposal was incredibly romantic.”
“Proposal?”
I grew curious about the proposal of a man who seemed the epitome of knighthood. He probably knelt, presented a dazzling bouquet, and declared,
“Will you marry me?”
“Yes. But actually, I initially refused.”
“You did?”
There was clearly more to this couple’s love story than met the eye.
Lady Yuria folded her arms.
“Well, he just stood there with a bouquet and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ No romance at all…”
“Pfft.”
How could my prediction be so accurate? However, it was Yuria’s reaction that truly surprised me.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime event! I rejected him for lack of atmosphere.”
She shrugged.
“But you seem to be doing well now.”
A smile bloomed on her face at my words.
“That’s because he proposed properly the second time.”
“Properly…?”
Since Diello and I were already married, it was a moot point for us, though I was curious. What constituted a ‘proper’ proposal?
“Yes.”
Yuria cupped her cheeks with her hands. Her usually pale face glowed with vitality whenever she spoke of Redias.
“He blindfolded me…”
“Yes? Yes.”
The beginning sounded… unusual.
“…and led me to this room.”
She led me to their bedroom, opening the door with a joyful expression.
“A path of candles led to the bed. The floor around it, and the bed itself, were covered in beautiful flower petals.”
I struggled to maintain my composure.
‘…Redias… Sir Redias…?’
“He removed the blindfold right in front of the bed, pushed me onto it…!”
Yuria’s face, already flushed, now looked as if it might burst.
“He held my hands above my head like this, and whispered, ‘Will you spend the night with me?’”
‘Sir Redias…!’
Maintaining my composure was proving difficult.
