After I Sent the Divorce Letter, My Husband Went Mad - Chapter 31
Chapter 16.1
“There’s nothing fun because it’s all about my husband.”
Seychelle nodded at Leilia’s words.
“I’ve seen the newspapers, too. They’re all about His Highness Cassel…”
It was she who watched Leilia as she struggled with the divorce up close.
“I’m glad that His Highness Cassel refused the divorce.”
At Seychelle’s words, Leilia glanced at her for a moment.
“Is that so.”
“He’s someone dear to you.”
Leilia’s cheeks flushed with a blush upon hearing Seychelle’s affectionate words. Regardless of whether her emotions had been palpable or not, Seychelle firmly clasped her hand and continued speaking.
“You also save your meager allowance provided by the imperial family and send them to the merchant.”
“It was..”
“Moreover, even though you weren’t properly treated by the imperial family, the lady endured all of that.”
Listening to Seychelle’s words brought back memories of everything that had happened until now as tears threatened to fall from her eyes.
Leilia spoke in a trembling voice.
“There will be something coming from the imperial family today.”
As she was required to take part in the procession, Leilia received a message from the palace informing her that they would provide her with a dress and jewelry to adorn herself and welcome him.
“It might not fit properly…”
Leilia’s words made Seychelle worried as well.
“…And we’ll need to prepare one more room.”
The following words made Seychelle’s expression stiffen as her master continued.
“This is a picture from today’s newspaper.”
When Leilia directed her gaze in that direction, she caught sight of Cassel and his entourage departing for the capital. They stood on his left, following closely behind him, while Calia, the rumored mistress, accompanied him on his right side. With her pink hair and crimson eyes, she radiated an exquisite beauty.
“He might bring the mistress to the mansion.”
Following her marriage to Cassel and their first night as a couple, Leilia moved to the mansion provided by the imperial family. Despite its modest size, she regarded it as her personal sanctuary and dedicated three years to embellishing it according to her taste.
Consequently, the prospect of another woman, an unavoidable circumstance, intruding into her husband’s life was undeniably disheartening.
“Would His Highness really go to such lengths?”
“For now, let’s just leave it at that for now.”
Leilia smiled bitterly as she said so.
“Considering his request to meet after the procession, it’s clear that he has some affection towards Lady Leilia, so I don’t think His Highness would go to such lengths.”
However, Seychelle shook her head.
“I hope so.”
Regardless of whether or not he held affection for her, and despite the presence of a mistress in his life, she wished for a basic level of civility to be maintained. Because of that, she fervently hoped that the mistress would refrain from encroaching on this space.
With that sentiment in mind, Leilia gently closed her eyes.
“It would be better to ask His Highness first and make arrangements accordingly.”
“Hm.”
Leilia nodded.

The next day arrived.
Upon receiving the jewelry and dresses sent by the imperial palace, Leilia and Seychelle couldn’t help but display disappointed expressions.
A cursory glance revealed that the accessories lacked extravagance, with each piece adorned with a single gemstone. Similarly, the attire consisted solely of black garments. This choice seemed rather unconventional, as it contradicted the customary practice of wearing colorful and vibrant ensembles for a parade ceremony.
There was also a letter from the Emperor in the box.
⌈ I apologize for the lack of preparation. However, it’s a gift from the heart, so I hope you’ll accept it. ⌋
Leilia sighed. Beside her, Seychelle looked at the items in disbelief.
“Oh, the goods have arrived.”
In the following moment, Aaron, the butler, approached and scrutinized the items alongside them. He was formally an attendant of the Emperor before he had come to this mansion.
Needless to say, he was the Emperor’s person. In addition to delivering the divorce letter on behalf of the imperial family, he assumed the responsibility of monitoring Leilia’s interactions with other men, ensuring her fidelity.
“Shouldn’t the Lady dress up with this?”
With a sneer on his face, Aaron posed the question, his gaze fixed on Leilia, who was contemplating the clothes and jewelry before ultimately shaking her head.
“I’m going to meet my husband, so I’m not going to be dressed in black.”
“Though there’s no other suitable dress, is there?”
It was a mockery.
Seychelle tried to say something, but Leilia answered with a shrug first.
‘How blatant.’
From the moment she arrived at the mansion, the servants had shown little warmth or acknowledgment towards her. They disregarded her presence and refused to acknowledge her as the lady of the house. As Cassel’s imminent return to the capital approached, their animosity towards her intensified.
Judging by their attitudes, it seemed like they were purposefully tormenting her even more because the divorce hadn’t yet been finalized.
Receiving his ridicule, Leilia responded calmly.
“I don’t have the dress, but I know someone who could lend it to me.”
As she flatly replied to his word, she closed the box.
“Prepare an escort knight.”
Seychelle bowed her head at the words.
‘I have to go visit uncle.’
