Chelias couldn’t help but laugh.

He accepted the hand Leilia offered without hesitation and grasped it firmly.

Leilia danced with Cassel. Watching him move gracefully, she leaned in and whispered in his ear.

He seemed almost desperate to know, his expression uneasy.

She had stayed at the banquet hall until late, and with the Emperor to attend to, she must have been exhausted. Yet, Leilia still insisted on having some wine. After uncorking the bottle, he poured a glass for her first. The gentle aroma of the wine drifted through the air, subtly tantalizing their senses.

“I revealed my identity to Lord Chelias.”

Leilia spoke softly to him.

Cassel froze for a moment, then his eyes widened.

“What did you just say?”

“He knows that I’m the head of the Hyllan Guild now.”

She said it calmly.

“I know he has an interest in you, but that’s not the only reason I told him. He knew my mother’s identity, yet he hadn’t revealed it to anyone until now.”

Cassel still seemed uneasy.

“What’s his intention…”

“I know what his goal is.”

He took a sip of wine.

“His goal is to make you Emperor.”

Cassel tilted his head slightly at those words.

“Why would he want that?”

“He doesn’t like the other princes.”

“Is that so?”

He let out a deep sigh, then shot a brief glance at Leilia. She had mentioned that the Sword Master harbored a deeper emptiness than anyone else. It was said that they would do anything to fill that void, regardless of the means.

He was fully aware of what he was missing.

She was the void he needed to fill.

He could endure everything as long as she was there. Without her in his life, he might not survive. And to make her completely his…
