When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 124.2
Not long after, Lewarren came face to face with Anais Percival.
“Let go!”
“You’re fierce.”
“Ugh…!”
Lewarren was cornered, both mentally and physically. Anais Percival relentlessly pursued him with a ferocity that bordered on maliciousness. He looked around. Not only had he ended up in a dead-end alley, but the walls also blocked any escape upwards.
The only exit was the path he had entered through, and now that path was occupied by Anais Percival, who was holding a long sword.
“I never thought you would actually become a thief.”
“After tormenting me for half a year, is that really what you think?”
“I hoped otherwise.”
“Nonsense.”
“I was a bit curious about how Lewarren ended up as a street thief.”
Lewarren spat on the ground, the blood mixed with phlegm landing with a splat. He roughly wiped the blood from his nose with the back of his hand.
“A sword against an unarmed person? Truly fitting of a noble’s cowardice.”
“If you have a sword, does that mean you can face me?”
“Yeah.”
Lewarren realized he shouldn’t have said that.
“What do you mean?”
Clang!
Anais kicked the sword away from one of his subordinates standing behind her. Surprised, Lewarren glared at her as the sword clattered to the ground.
“If you beat me, I’ll pardon your crimes. I might even grant you a title.”
“Are you mocking me?”
“No. If I were mocking you, I wouldn’t have handed you the sword.”
Lewarren picked up the sword from the ground and swung it at her.
Clang!
It was just one blow. Anais effortlessly broke his sword and pointed her weapon at Lewarren’s neck.
“Do you want to die, or will you listen to me?”
“Ha.”
Lewarren had no choice.
“Should I serve you as a master?”
“No, just be my friend.”
He thought she was truly a strange person.
* * *
Lewarren burst into Anais’s office as if he intended to break down the door.
“What do you plan to do with me?”
He expected Anais would send him to the frontier. If not that, he feared she might execute him as an example.
But she seemed to have no such intentions and almost let him go.
Lewarren had fled from Anais more than ten times. Each time, he was easily caught, and by the time he contemplated giving up his escape, such words slipped out.
“I want you to live a proper life.”
“What?”
“You have a keen eye for valuable things, Lewarren. Isn’t that because you hate your miserable life?”
Lewarren found it strange that Anais, who hadn’t spoken much with him, would say such things. It was as if she understood his true nature completely.
“You like the noble life, yet you despise how petty nobles can be, even while secretly longing for it.”
“What…!”
“Your tastes aren’t any different from those of the nobles. In fact, those who lack depth in their learning may even fall short compared to you.”
Anais wasn’t saying this to compliment him. Lewarren could read that clearly from her indifferent demeanor. So why was she saying such things so casually? He was confused.
“I want you to go to the Roseraine Temple. Find your life there.”
“Are you crazy? You want me to become a priest now?”
“Yes.”
Lewarren did not want to become a priest. Becoming a priest meant becoming a servant of God. It would strip him of not only marriage but also the freedom to live as he wished.
“If you become a priestess of the Roseraine Temple, the Percival family will fully support you.”
“Why? Did the temple do something wrong to the Percival family? Are you trying to use me as a spy?”
“No. I’ve already told you. I want you to live a proper life. You can only do that by being where you truly belong.”
“Stop talking nonsense.”
“Isn’t your divine power unstable?”
Lewarren silently looked at Anais, whose attitude suggested she had thoroughly investigated him. He had fled from his past, escaping even the workhouse.
“I don’t want to be a priest.”
“Fine. But think about it. If you want to live like you are now, then go ahead.”
“…….”
“But do you really want to continue living like that? Wandering the streets, preying on the poor, trembling in fear of being caught at any moment?”
Lewarren felt a surge of defiance and chose not to respond to her words. Instead, he walked outside. As if to rebut her words, he immediately resorted to thievery again.

Smack!
“Sorry about that.”
Seeing the man with jet-black hair and golden eyes, Lewarren frowned. The perfect appearance and demeanor were a clear indication that he was a knight of noble birth.
That day, Lewarren stole a yellow crystal. The person he met was Kylian.
It truly was a stroke of bad luck.
“I can’t sell this.”
As soon as he showed it to the group leader upon returning to the thieves’ group, he heard those words.
“What do you mean?”
“This is a crystal infused with the essence of a gold dragon. You can’t sell it. There’s only one in the capital, and only two exist within the Empire.”
Such identifiable items cannot be sold. The moment you do, you’ll get caught.
“I’m sorry, Lewarren.”
“It’s fine. I can always steal another necklace.”
“Not just that.”
The group leader had a wry smile, looking genuinely apologetic.
“Thank you for everything.”
“What…!”
As soon as Lewarren heard the group leader’s words, he recoiled at the sight of burly men bursting in.
“I need to live too.”
“How could you…!”
“That’s why I told you not to touch the high noble’s belongings.”
Lewarren realized that the attire worn by the large men was from a well-known Marquisate, and he went pale.
“My master has ordered me to kill you and bring you back.”
The man who seemed to be the leader of the knights spoke in a cold voice.
