When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 116.1
Anais and Phileal, holding hands tightly and relying on each other, descended to the lowest floor.
“Phileal, why is this door locked?”
“I don’t know either. But I can sense a strange aura coming from inside.”
In response to Phileal’s answer, Anais closed her eyes and tried to sense the energy beyond the door, just as he had done.
The door was made of stone, but the feeling coming from beyond wasn’t the presence of inanimate objects. It was an ominous, unknown energy.
“What’s on the other side?”
“It seems like something.”
“Then let’s try to open this door.”
At Anais’s suggestion, Phileal began searching for a way to open the door. He briefly let go of her hand and began feeling around the door, examining it from all angles. He wondered if divine power was needed to open it, but that approach didn’t work, and he was puzzled. Moreover, although it was clearly a door, it had no handle.
“Could it be…”
Anais reached out towards the door. Her body seemed to glow faintly, and the area where she touched the door became translucent, allowing her to pass through it.
“It looks like only someone with divine power can enter.”
Seeing the patterns on the door ripple as Anais touched them, Phileal found it strange that there was no reaction when he touched the door but one when Anais did.
“This seems dangerous.”
“What? Ugh…!”
In an instant, Anais began to be pulled inward by a force that seemed to draw her in.
“Anais! Pull your hand out now!”
“I can’t! It feels like something is pulling me!”
Phileal, looking alarmed, grabbed her left hand tightly and tried to pull her back towards him.
“Phileal!”
She looked at him, equally alarmed.
He was terrified of Anais being drawn into the door. If she went through, she would be separated from him, left alone again.
“Phileal, I don’t want to be alone.”
It wasn’t long ago that she had cried like this. He didn’t want to see her cry like that again.
“Ugh…!”
But the pulling force was so powerful that Phileal’s strength alone was insufficient, and she was being drawn in, leaving only her hand behind.
“No…!”
Phileal sighed and pulled again, but Anais had already vanished beyond the door. He stood there, dazed and disheartened.
Anais was gone. His worry for her made it hard for him to think clearly. Then he realized that he couldn’t be without Anais either.
“Then I’ll just break this door.”
He collected himself and drew upon his divine power, preparing to use it to tear down everything in his sight.
At that moment, he heard Anais’s voice from beyond the door.
“Phileal!”
“Anais! Where are you? Are you okay?”
His panic caused his strength to falter.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
Phileal was momentarily surprised to find tears welling up. Hearing Anais’s voice brought him some relief.
“I’m scared. I don’t know where you went.”
Anais’s voice, as though tapping on the walls, responded calmly.
“I’m really okay. There’s a door leading in here, so there must be one to get out.”
“I’ll just break everything. This size won’t take long to destroy.”
“Don’t do that. If you find the exit, I can get out. There’s no need to break everything.”
Phileal felt a sense of relief that Anais’s voice sounded calm, unlike his own. He was glad she wasn’t near, as he didn’t want her to see him cry from the shock of her absence.
“I’ll look for a way for you to get out.”
“Okay.”
“But if it seems like you won’t be out within two hours, I will break it.”
“Alright.”
He said this and rested his head against the door where Anais had vanished.
“I shouldn’t break it now, right?”
“You said you’d wait two hours before breaking it. So no.”
Phileal smiled faintly at Anais’s firm reply and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand.
“Understood. I’ll keep searching.”
“Okay, I will too.”
Anais, noticing that Phileal was standing silently by the door, decided to start moving. She didn’t want to be alone, as it reminded her of Kylian. But now, even thinking of him didn’t bring tears. It was all thanks to Phileal.
She found it hard to accept that Kylian could never be hers. In truth, her efforts for him were acts of love, so deceiving herself felt foolish. If she had to deceive herself, she wished she could have done it more perfectly and remained unaware until the end.
With these thoughts, she walked away from the door and toward the other side. The interior was dark but subtly illuminated.
It reminded her of Kylian, who seemed to shine brightly even in darkness, and she forced a wry smile.
Everything was difficult for her now. It was hard to look at even the smallest things without reflecting on Kylian, and it was challenging to associate even trivial matters with him naturally.
