Villainous Husband, the One You’re Obsessed With Is Over There - Chapter 215
Chapter 108.1
The repercussions of Raniero’s words were tremendous. Angelica struggled as if this was her last chance.
She wailed.
“It’s going to be miserable!”
She cursed Raniero.
“I’ll never love you. I’ll curse and hate you forever!”
Even at her words, he still looked at her with a dazzling smile smeared on his face.
Despite her lack of strength, Angelica lunged at Raniero as if she wanted to kill him. Her intention behind the gesture was less about her true intention to kill but rather a desire to hurt him.
She also knew she couldn’t leave here if she really killed him because she had to pass through three sturdy doors to get out to the bathroom, each locked with a lock that only Raniero could unlock. So, the fingers that were wrapped around Raniero’s throat, as if to take his breath away, soon lost their strength and fell away.
Angelica trembled with fear. It seemed she was more afraid of the situation she was in than of Raniero himself.
How exhilarating it was to watch it unfold.
The scent of the sweet fruit, soon to be possessed exclusively, seemed to already tickle his nose. It was okay if she didn’t love him right now since she would soon come to love him regardless. It was because she couldn’t bear being left alone.
It was Angelica’s nature to rely on someone.
So, Raniero could simply smile even as she tried to strangle him. It was a byproduct of his composure.
Angelica, too, clearly perceived this composure, as tears that had been held back by astonishment now began to flow abundantly due to her misery. When her howling, curses, and attempts at killing him didn’t work, she finally resorted to her last weapon.
“I-I’m going to die.”
Raniero’s eyebrows twitched briefly at her words.
Angelica’s face, witnessing this momentary hesitation, brightened as if it had caught a clue.
“I’m not lying. I’d rather die, I’d rather die.”
“How?”
When he asked in a slightly drier voice than before, Angelica flinched at the change, though she squared her shoulders to sharpen her voice further.
“One way or another. I’ll h-hang myself or b-bite my tongue.”
As the crimson gaze fixed on her face narrowed slightly, tension hung thick between them.
At the end of Angelica’s ultimatum, no one opened their mouths or acted rashly. Raniero’s lips felt dry. Of course, he didn’t wish for her to die. How were the past ten days like when she lay asleep without waking? He never wanted to go through the endless one-way interaction with no response again.
Nevertheless, he refused to grant her desperate request.
“Try it.”
He met her light green eyes and withdrew a dagger from his embrace before handing it to her.
Angelica’s pupils trembled at this unexpected action.
“I’m not joking. I’m really going to die.”
The reason why he was able to hand her the dagger despite her dire words was that every time she mentioned ‘death,’ she would stumble over her words.
How transparent and endearing her demeanor was.
Death itself may not be frightening to her. However, the inevitable moments of pain that accompany the process of dying would likely be terrifying.
“Okay. Try it.”
Angelica stared at the dagger with bated breath. Trembling like a withered tree, she removed the scabbard from her sword as if to prove that she meant what she said.
Somehow, the blade seemed unusually sharp today.
She couldn’t tear her gaze away from the blade. Knowing how painful getting hurt could be, the memory of pain brought about hesitation.
Raniero, too, couldn’t take his eyes off the blade.
“Huueuk… uuk…”
Angelica struggled to lift the dagger as if it were a heavy object. As she brought the sharp tip of the blade against the inside of her wrist, her breath quickened significantly. There was no significant progress in her actions as she continued to emit only groans.
Raniero neither intervened nor urged her on her.
Despite her best efforts, Angelica cried endlessly, to the point where the little courage she had mustered became useless. Even after a long time had passed, she still couldn’t bring herself to cut her own flesh, and the dagger soon fell onto the clean sheet.
Angelica sobbed, clutching the sheet as she crouched.
Regret and self-loathing were evident on her face.
She wasn’t even able to properly harm herself.
In the meanwhile, Raniero retrieved the dagger. Just as before, he tucked it away inside his clothes, then gently brushed Angelica’s back as he whispered.
“I don’t care if you can’t do anything. I like you that way.”
To Raniero, who scorned weakness, Angelica didn’t seem pathetic at all.
“Uhm…”
“But this is the end of your stubbornness, okay?”
As he traced the outline of her skinny spine with his palm, Raniero whispered coldly, enjoying the touch.
“If you continue to be stubborn like this next time, I won’t tell you when I’ll come back. I’ll make sure you’re left alone, unable to tell the time by the direction of shadows or the height of the sun.”
Angelica’s spine stiffened with honesty.
