Villainous Husband, the One You’re Obsessed With Is Over There - Chapter 108
Chapter 54.2
As the demon beasts’ mothers were chained outside the sanctuary, they shouted out of hatred for the humans who killed their offspring and their own people.
However, to humans, it was just meaningless noise. The knights of Actilus gathered the eggs that the demonic beasts had laid in places in the sanctuary. Even though they were going to burn them, it seemed that Raniero really intended to hatch them. Beyond the milky white membrane, small and hideous things wriggled.
Raniero inspected his eggs one by one and smiled.
“They’ll wake up soon.”
A total of 142 intact eggs were found intact. Thirteen of them swelled to the point of bursting, looking like they would hatch at any moment, so Raniero had four knights take turns guarding the eggs. On the other hand, none of the paladins who recaptured the sanctuary could be happy. It was because it was obvious that the Emperor of the foreign country was plotting something unpleasant.
The commander of the paladin asked him.
“Why do you want to hatch the eggs? Because it’s more fun to burn things that move to death?”
Eden swallowed inwardly. The commander was more agitated than usual. Still, it wouldn’t do anything good against Raniero, whose eyes were glistening with madness. Nevertheless, Raniero brushed aside the words of the commander.
Truly ‘mercilessly.’
He muttered softly.
“It’ll be more fun than burning things that move.”

It was revealed that night what Raniero was thinking about.
“They’ve hatched!”
As the knight guarding the egg shouted loudly, the paladins, who were polishing their armor and weapons, flinched in unison. Raniero, who was looking in the direction they had come from, asked without even looking at the knight.
“Did you kill it?”
The knight replied hesitantly.
“No. I didn’t attack… it’s presumptuous for me to say this, but…”
The paladins’ ears stood firm. So was Eden’s.
“…It seems to recognize us as mothers.”
The ripple effect that those words caused was enormous. No one opened their mouths as they just stared at the knight’s shocked face. Meanwhile, Raniero narrowed his eyes and raised the corners of his mouth as if he had expected.
“Okay. Keep taking turns as you do now. And…”
Eden seemed to know what Raniero wanted to say. He lowered his head and muttered into his mouth.
‘Give the mother food.’
“Throw the mother to the cubs.”
The dark-haired young man glanced in the direction of the commander of the paladin, who was half up from his seat with his lips quivering while staring at Raniero.
Raniero was also looking at the commander.
As the gazes of the two met in the air, Raniero was the first to open his mouth and concluded his remarks in a very dignified manner.
“We now have a scouting party, right? That’s great.”
None of the paladins agreed with his words.
Standing at an angle and looking down at the paladins, he opened his mouth again.
“Is there no one among you who will be a parent to those poor newborns?”
The paladins were as quiet as a mouse.*
[ T/N: It’s an idiom which means very quiet. ]
Eden could feel the discomfort emanating from his skin and the surrounding paladins. It would have been a little better if Raniero’s idea had been nothing more than a cold-hearted tactic.
All of this was entertainment for him. Even in a long battle, he wasn’t even tired, and his vitality was overflowing as if sucking up the helplessness of the losers and turning them into vigor, even though this whole situation wasn’t amusing at all for the paladins of Tunia.
It wasn’t fun for Eden, either. Though he slowly raised his hand.
Raniero’s gaze came straight and caught him.
Eden was nervous at the thought that he might remember him. However, it was nothing more than unnecessary worry since Raniero didn’t seem to recognize him. Although he didn’t know that Raniero couldn’t remember other people’s faces, he thought he was lucky anyway.
Suddenly, Solon pulled his sleeve.
“Eden!”
He was trying to whisper so Raniero couldn’t hear. However, Raniero spoke to him first.
It was a bonus that he whispered so that Raniero couldn’t hear him.
“You, paladin of Tunia… would you be willing to become the mother of the grossest and ugliest?”
Eden answered without hesitation.
“Yes.”
While Raniero smiled contentedly and leaned back, the paladins’ astonished eyes were now directed towards Eden.
Still, Eden didn’t care one bit.
It was because he wanted to tour the sanctuary as soon as possible, but he couldn’t stay here long since they had to travel. Regardless, he had the right to enter the sanctuary even when it would be his turn to look after eggs. In order to find a way back, he could throw away his pride as a paladin on the ground without any remorse. He could have fallen on his knees to Raniero and obediently obeyed his taunts.
So, he turned away from the stinging stares of his colleagues.
The sense of belonging was meaningless.
…After all, this wasn’t the world he belonged to.
