The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 84
Chapter 84
‘Ugh,’ Leybid thought, a wave of nausea washing over him. Oblivious, the two continued their conversation.
“You look lovely.”
“Truly? I’m not used to these clothes. They feel a bit awkward. Do I look alright?”
“Yes. You look quite natural.”
“That’s a relief.”
“And… very beautiful.”
“Thank you.” Arlenrose blushed at Camin’s hesitant compliment. Leybid’s mood darkened. He pressed his lips together, glaring at them, but they ignored him as if he were invisible.
“What about me? Why don’t you ask me?” Leybid finally burst out. Arlenrose’s gaze flicked to him, the smile vanishing from her face.
“I wasn’t only asking Sir Camin.”
“Yes, you were. You looked at him when you asked.”
“With all due respect, Your Highness, you’re mistaken.”
That damned “due respect.” Already sick of the phrase thanks to Camin, hearing it from Arlenrose made Leybid cringe.
“I don’t think I am.”
“Whether you are or not is irrelevant, but if you wish to believe that, so be it. Then, I shall ask again. Your Highness, how do I look?” Arlenrose asked stiffly, tilting her head.
‘See! Completely different!’
Leybid wanted to yell. It was unfair. How could this not be different? It was the same question, yet the tone, expression, everything was completely different!
He held back, aware of his childishness and that arguing wouldn’t achieve anything but make him look foolish. Instead, he forced a gentle smile and spoke in a soft, elegant tone. “You look very lovely, natural, and beautiful.”
“Oh. Well, thank you very much.” Arlenrose replied curtly, turning away. The blatant difference in her response stung, but Leybid could only bite back his frustration.
Unfazed, Arlenrose and Camin continued their conversation.
“Your Highness, do you truly intend to go out? His Highness instructed me to grant your requests whenever possible, but you needn’t go to such lengths. I shall speak with His Highness…”
“It’s no trouble. I’ve been wanting to leave the confines of the castle, and the Crown Prince’s request provides a welcome opportunity. As you know, Sir Camin, my brother wouldn’t allow me to leave otherwise.”
“But it’s too dangerous.”
“You’ll protect me, Sir Camin. I’ll be fine.”
“Your Highness, even with my protection, you tend to vanish like the wind.”
“I won’t. I promise to stay right by your side today.”
“Your Highness…”
“I really want to take advantage of this opportunity. Please let me go. Please?”
Arlenrose blinked at Camin, a seemingly unconscious gesture that somehow felt deliberately charming.
Leybid, witnessing an expression he’d never seen before, was stunned. Camin sighed, defeated. “Very well. But you promise to stay right by my side?”
“Yes, I promise. I won’t leave your side for a moment. Thank you, Sir Camin.”
The Camin who had been an impenetrable wall to Leybid now crumbled like a freshly cut cake. The Arlenrose who was always cold and distant with him now beamed like a spring flower.
Leybid’s frustration escalated beyond mere resentment to a world-shattering sense of injustice. Camin offered his arm in escort, and Arlenrose took it.
“Shall we go, Your Highness?” Arlenrose said, glancing at Leybid. Her tone was light, her words simple, yet they hit him like a thrown stone.
Stunned, Leybid stood motionless for a moment. “…Wait, I’m coming too!”
Arlenrose and Camin walked past him, seemingly unconcerned. Leybid stared after them, then hurried to catch up.
