The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 48
Chapter 48
Peregrine shook his head resolutely, his eyes even more wounded than before.
This is difficult. I closed my eyes tightly once more.
She feel like she need to do something about Peregrine, but she can’t think of a solution. If she were to make a cold, calculated decision, she should let him go from his position as her attendant and send him somewhere else… but she can’t bring herself to choose that option.
With his vibrant pink hair, bright lime-green eyes that were almost golden, delicate features, and a slender, graceful figure, not to mention his sweet-smelling pheromones, Peregrine is as beautiful and captivating as a freshly bloomed flower. There are already many Alphas who have their eyes on him but are unable to touch him because of his position as her attendant. If she were to send him out into the world, she doesn’t even want to imagine what would happen.
“Your Highness, please, I beg you to forget what I just said. Please don’t dismiss me from my position as your attendant.”
“Peregrine…”
Peregrine was about to spoke hastily, perhaps sensing my thoughts.
“Don’t worry, I’m not offended. I know how good of a attendant you are.”
Arlenrose, who had been looking at him in surprise, forced a smile.
“You’re a wonderful attendant, Peregrine.”
“I will continue to strive to be of service to Your Highness.”
“You’re already doing a wonderful job.”
“It is an honor to be recognized by Your Highness.”
“Don’t think too much of it…”
Arlenrose trailed off, turning away before he could say anything more excessive. It was embarrassing and somewhat bitter to be constantly worshipped like this.
‘Actually, I wanted to be friends.’
Perhaps that was her true desire, even more than finding a comrade.
Arlenrose had no friends, unable to confide in anyone. Her only friend, Violet, was now the consort of Enrique, leaving her with no one to spend time with. The other companions she had come with were all dead.
She knew that she had no room for such personal feelings as friendship, but she couldn’t help the loneliness that washed over her from time to time.
If only she had met him outside, like Violet, as nothing in the world, instead of as a princess in the royal palace, things might have been different.
“Your Highness, I will escort you.”
As she suppressed her bitter feelings and stepped out of her quarters, someone approached her.
“Ah, Sir Baker, I’ll leave today in your capable hands.”
“The pleasure is mine, Your Highness.”
The middle-aged man, who bowed respectfully, had dark hair and eyes of the same color, with an unassuming yet mature appearance. He was Baker Dane, the vice captain of the Princess’ royal guard.
Today, she had asked him to take over the escort duty instead of Camin. Camin Modreo was supposed to attend the ball as a nobleman.
Of course, Camin had tried to refuse, but his pleas were ignored. Camin Modreo was the second son of Duke Modreo, the kingdom’s foremost nobleman, before he was the princess’s knight. He couldn’t afford to miss the ball welcoming the Imperial Crown Prince.
To be more precise, he was forced to attend not because of that, but because Crown Prince Enrique insisted on it.
So, they were scheduled to meet at the ball tonight, as the princess of the kingdom and the second son of the ducal family.
“Sir Camin must be in the midst of getting ready as well.”
Arlenrose said as she walked alongside Baker, to which a serious reply came.
“Yes, he is enduring a time of trial and hardship.”
Camine, too, disliked the attire that required excessive decoration, just as much as Arlenrose did.
He must not be comfortable wearing a knight’s uniform with a stiff, angular material, a shoulder strap, and various badges, but it seemed that wearing a heavy cloak over a sky-blue fabric with dangling ornaments was even more unsuitable for Camin.
Someone once joked to him that he might be staying as a knight instead of a nobleman because of his taste in clothing. Arlenrose had also listened to the answer, thinking to herself that maybe that was true, but the reply was a firm one, saying that he would not determine his place based solely on clothing.
The atmosphere at the time was so cold that Arlenrose secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to herself that she was glad she hadn’t made such a joke.
