The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
* * *
Arlenrose and Violet had met five years ago.
At that time, Arlenrose was in the north, not the royal capital. Of course, the royal family would not have allowed her to leave the royal capital. It was an unauthorized departure, a so-called runaway, carried out through a secret plan and thorough preparation.
At that time, Arlenrose felt like she would go crazy if she stayed in the royal capital any longer. Her family, who despised her and treated her like a tumor that needed to be removed, the alphas and their pheromones that filled the royal capital, the pheromone suppressants she had to force down her throat every day because of them, watching the omegas being abused by the alphas. Everything about the royal capital was simply awful.
So she ran away. It was almost like suicide for a young omega to travel alone, but there was no reason to hesitate. She would rather die outside than live her entire life locked up in the royal capital.
Fortunately, Arlenrose had pheromone suppressants that could disguise her as a beta and more, money she had saved up over time, some swordsmanship skills, and a weak spirit power. She also had the strategy to use them appropriately to reach her destination.
The reason Arlenrose headed north was because there was a place where omegas who had escaped from alphas gathered and lived.
A hideout for outlaw omegas who had escaped from society, Daimon.
The moment she heard about the existence of such a place, Arlenrose was seized by a strong urge to go there. It seemed like a place where she would be more herself than in the prison-like royal capital, at least.
With that one impulse, she made her way to the north with difficulty, but of course, the people of Daimon did not come out to greet Arlenrose and welcome her.
The north was so vast and rugged that it was difficult to even find a clue to lead her there. Arlenrose suffered even more than she had on her journey up to that point before she was finally able to enter Daimon.
Arlenrose and Violet met around that time. The two of them happened to recognize each other on the outskirts of the north, confirmed that their destinations were the same, and then put their heads together and adventured together to find Daimon.
Perhaps Arlenrose would have wandered around forever if she had been alone. Daimon was a place that was heavily guarded with clues that were like passwords, a maze-like path, and traps that were layered on top of each other in order to avoid the approach of alphas.
Even after going through such a difficult and arduous process to set foot in Daimon, there was no sense of the joy she had expected. The lives of the omegas there, who were isolated from society and had difficulty obtaining even the bare necessities, were too miserable for joy. She hadn’t expected Daimon to be an omega’s paradise, but the sight before her was beyond her imagination.
Muren, who was the leader of Daimon at the time, could tell at a glance that the two of them were not ordinary omegas.
Eyes that shone intelligently, never giving up in any situation. That was something that was hard to find in omegas. However, both of them had such eyes and were constantly pouring out ideas on how to improve Daimon from its current state. They had the initiative and courage that the aging Muren did not.
Muren gradually gave them more authority, and Arlenrose and Violet joined forces to gradually improve the place.
The large amount of pheromone suppressants that Arlenrose had brought with her was a great help there. Since there were no alpha pheromones in Daimon, she didn’t have to take as many pheromone suppressants as she did when she was in the royal capital. When she was surrounded by alphas, she had to take a whole bottle every day to barely get by, but since there were no alphas, she only had to take one pill at a time.
The situation improved significantly when the pheromone suppressants were supplied stably, so that the omegas there would not suffer when their heat cycles came. Daimon, as a society, was able to operate much more productively and efficiently.
Two years after that, Daimon had surprisingly become a fairly decent place to live.
Although the process had been arduous and difficult, for Arlenrose, it had been the most fulfilling time of her life so far. Falling into bed exhausted every night and falling asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow was much better than tossing and turning with insomnia because of the side effects of the suppressants and her churning stomach.
More than anything, there was freedom there. Even though she was living on poor food, wearing rough clothes that chafed her skin, and sleeping on a hard floor that made her body ache, she loved being able to make and move on her own terms.
She also had family there. Violet, who had become like a sister to her, and Muren, who she called her foster mother. They were much more like family to Arlenrose than her own blood relatives. They did not despise her, but believed in her, relied on her, and cherished her.
Arlenrose was happy there in her own way.
Until Daimon was discovered by the alphas and invaded. Until Muren, the leader of the place, was murdered and hung in the square as an example, her body horribly violated.
