The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Should she tell him the truth?
She had been momentarily fooled by the fact that the crown prince of the Luversiana Empire, Leybid de Valenti Luversiana, had approached her pretending to be her escort. It had all been a ploy to find a weakness in Fleurose.
However, if she told him this, she would also have to tell him about the suspicions he had about her. Furthermore, he had already confirmed that those suspicions were true, so there was a risk that he would expose her if she made a single misstep.
“I’m sorry. I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I didn’t want to cause any unnecessary trouble.”
For now, she couldn’t tell him. Having come to that decision, Arlenrose simply gave an ambiguous response and lowered her gaze. She couldn’t bring herself to look Camin in the eye.
Camin narrowed his eyes, interpreting her reaction differently.
“Your Highness. I understand that the world speaks ill of you, calling you frivolous and self-serving, but regardless of what they say, you are the princess of this country. You have the right to demand what is rightfully yours. Especially when it comes to matters concerning your safety, as is the case here.”
He was suggesting that she had not demanded an escort because she was afraid of being looked down upon as a recessive Alpha.
“Camin…”
Arlenrose was momentarily speechless at his gentle reproach, but then her eyebrows twitched.
She thought to herself that Camin Modreo was truly a good man. And that she was truly unworthy of being by his side.
“Yes, I will do that from now on.”
At Arlenrose’s promise, Camin sighed and nodded.
“Yes, I would appreciate that. To be honest, I thought the world was ending last night.”
“Were you that worried about me?”
“Of course.”
Camin frowned even more deeply and assumed a stern expression.
“We won’t know the details until Sir Mark Fowards wakes up, but it seems likely that there is someone targeting Your Highness. We will be increasing security for the time being, so please be especially careful.”
“Yes, I will.”
Arlenrose nodded and smiled gently. She then turned and walked away, with Camin following behind her.
It was time to meet the King of Fleurrosa, Rebecca Vi Fleurose.
* * *
Rebecca Vi Fleurrosa, the 26th King of the Kingdom of Fleurose.
A cold-hearted monarch with a heart as cold and unfeeling as ice, she was known as the Iron-Blooded King who had defended her kingdom to the last against the Empire’s continental conquest.
“Arlenrose Vi Fleurose, Princess of Fleurose, greets Rebecca Vi Fleurose, King of Fleurose.”
As she entered the audience chamber and bowed, her mother’s expression remained impassive as she looked down at her. However, as soon as their amethyst eyes met, she displayed a deep sense of disgust.
As always.
“As always, I have received reports on your recent activities, so there is no need for you to inform me separately. I only hope that you have not disgraced yourself in any way while out of my sight.”
It was a warning that she was being watched so that she could be informed immediately if she did anything that might reveal her status as an Omega.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Arlenrose bowed deeply. The longer she made eye contact, the more uncomfortable she would make her mother, so it was better to avert her gaze. Rebecca did not like to look into her eyes or see her face.
The King of Fleurose, Rebecca, and Arlenrose bore a striking resemblance to each other, as if they were looking in a mirror. With their smooth platinum hair that seemed to have been spun from silver and their beautiful sapphire eyes that resembled embedded sapphires, anyone could tell that they were mother and daughter.
When Arlenrose was young, Rebecca had actually been quite fond of her. In those days, there was no reason not to love Arlenrose, who resembled her and was more intelligent than her older brother, Enrique.
That is, until the day when twelve-year-old Arlenrose began to bleed from between her legs.
Menstruation meant that her body was preparing to bear children. Such a phenomenon was only experienced by Omegas, who were tools for pregnancy and childbirth. But for such a shameful thing to come from the body of a noble princess.
Rebecca was furious and personally beheaded those who had witnessed the ominous red blood, thoroughly concealing the fact that her princess was an Omega.
Since then, she had never once smiled at her daughter. She had never shown her even a shred of affection. She had only felt a deep sense of disgust at the fact that her own child, who resembled her so closely, was a lowly Omega.
