Chapter 269

Their trembling lips and warm breaths intertwined as if they were always meant to be one.
She marveled at how irrationally her lips operated as a sensory organ.
Her lips read his lips, sweet and soft like cream.
The sensation of her lips being pressed was overwhelmingly ecstatic, and the feeling of her mouth being invaded was so sensual that her whole body trembled.
Even while their lips were locked, Yves kept touching her as if to confirm her existence.
He caressed her cheek with his hand, slipped his fingers through her hair to touch her neck, and hugged her shoulders tightly, pressing her close as if he would never let go.
A complete sense of fulfillment, as if nothing more was needed, was pricked by an intense passion that clawed at her.
They embraced each other so tightly that they couldn’t get any closer, yet they desired each other with such ferocity that they couldn’t be satisfied.
If this was love, it felt like they would break from embracing each other so much.
Then it happened.
Clack—!
The light pain of their teeth clashing made Radis open her eyes.
Yves, also seemingly in pain, slowly opened his eyes.
The confusion in his eyes made Radis burst into laughter.
Yves laughed too.
Laughing heartily, he kissed her forehead.
He showered kisses on her nose, cheeks, chin, neck, and ears.
Radis hugged his neck tightly.
A sensation she had never felt before came to her.
The feeling of being completely loved by someone, and knowing she loved him the same way.
It was a feeling she had never experienced before, one she had never wanted.
She leaned into him, hoping he could hear her heart beating.
Yves let out a groan.
Radis realized that the tips of his pretty ears were turning red.
She kissed the reddening lobes and whispered.
“Why?”
“…Just because. I’m happy.”
Yves sighed and hugged her even tighter.
“I’m so happy I could die.”
At his words, Radis pulled back slightly to look at him.
“Don’t die. Never. You have to stay with me forever.”
The earnestness in her voice made Yves’ eyes blur again.
He stroked her neck with his large, warm hand.
“Then I’ll never die.”
Yves pulled her back in.
To the still inexperienced couple, a kiss spoke louder than a hundred words.
For her, love was remembered that way.
Desperately tender touches, a softness and sweetness the world had never shown her before, given with a painful urgency that made her wish she could give more.

Sitting on the ground, holding Radis tightly, Yves muttered.
“I think that one’s a failure.”
The ‘cat’ golem resembling a cockroach showed no signs of movement.
Radis, who had been leaning against his chest, turned her head to look at his face.
While waiting for the golem to activate, every time their eyes met, they ended up kissing, so his lips were swollen.
She figured her own lips must be in a similar state.
“Why did it fail?”
Radis almost said that the golem might have chosen death over becoming a cockroach, but held back.
“It happens. Normally, golems are born when the seeds of the Underworld Tree fall onto mana-rich soil. It’s amazing that we succeeded with just wood and dirt.”
Her clumsy reassurance didn’t seem to help much.
Yves, his face buried in her neck, murmured sadly.
“I hate the word failure. It means you can’t always succeed, so it just means you didn’t succeed, but why does it imply losing?”
His voice quivered with emotion.
“I hate the feeling of losing when you don’t succeed.”
Radis remembered that he had mentioned something similar before.
She slipped her fingers through his bangs and brushed his hair aside.
Then she gently pulled his cheek to make him look at her.
“Yves, you have one more major failure.”
His eyes wavered anxiously.
“A major failure?”
“A complete failure.”
“What’s that…?”
“Me.”
Yves blinked his pretty eyes.
Radis continued.
“Don’t you remember? Your plan to reclaim your family’s ducal title using me as your golden stepping stone.”
Yves’ face turned as pale as a sun-dried sheet and then began to flush again.
He stammered,
“Th-That was…!”
Radis laughed softly and whispered.
“Do you dislike it too? Because it was a failure?”
Yves hugged her tightly and shook his head.
Like a large animal trying to mark her with his scent, he rubbed his face against hers.
She felt his chin rubbing against her cheek.
The slightly rough texture of his recently shaved skin felt nice.
He groaned softly,
“No, I like it. I like it a lot.”
