Chapter 239

While Robert was lost in thought, Xenon, with a deep furrow between his brows, gripped his sword with both hands.
“Ahem…!”
With a concentrated groan, sharp sword energy surged from Xenon’s sword.
Xenon looked at the tip of his energized sword and burst into a satisfied laugh.
He said to Robert in a taunting tone.
“If you’re from the South, act like it and stay buried in the southern lands fighting monsters. Isn’t a master’s seal too much for a sword meant for hunting monsters?”
At his words, Robert twisted a smile.
“It seems you really did become a master with your mouth.”
Xenon’s face crumpled even more.
He replied with a boiling voice,
“I’ll prove that’s not the case!”
“Why do you keep trying to prove something? Wasn’t this supposed to be a guiding duel for the master’s seal?”
“……!”
Robert, annoyed, threw off his cumbersome helmet and shook his head.
Under the scorching sun, his platinum hair gleamed brightly.
Now seeing his opponent not just as a dueling partner but as a true enemy, his gray eyes began to emit a sharp, wolf-like ferocity.
He said in a voice laden with grim resolve.
“From here on, it’s not a duel—it’s a fight.”

Radis, looking at Rollard’s gauntlet thrown at her feet, thought to herself.
‘Regia, I’ll talk to you about this when we get back.’
[ …… ]
Regia’s pleading voice was heard.
[ I guess I got a bit too excited; it’s been five hundred years since someone picked a fight with me. Isn’t that reason enough? It’s been five hundred years! ]
‘Lower your voice.’
[ Yes, Big Sis… ]
While Radis was pondering how to handle the situation, a servant approached them and spoke in a dignified tone.
“What are the knights doing in the sacred imperial arena?”
Rollard quickly stepped forward, raising his voice loudly.
“This woman has insulted chivalry!”
Radis’s eyes flickered.
‘Me?’
Regia whispered ominously to her.
[ Execution, execution… ]
‘Voice.’
[ Yes, ma’am. ]
As Radis scolded Regia, Rollard explained the situation loudly to the servant.
“This woman mishandled Sir Robert’s regalia when I cautioned her, she insulted me with harsh words. And when I demanded an apology, she threatened me!”
There’s a saying that you can’t win against a crying child or a loud voice.
Slightly bewildered by his booming voice, Radis said,
“I’m sorry.”
She bowed her head and apologized again, for the umpteenth time.
“I think I was too nervous being in an unfamiliar place.”
“No! Sorry isn’t gonna cut it!”
Rollard raged on.
“Kneel! Kneel right here, right now!”
Radis sighed and said, for the umpteenth time,
“Sir Rollard, I am currently performing the role of Sir Robert’s squire, wearing the uniform of the Black Lion Knights. I hope you understand that it is not a simple matter for me to kneel down. If you permit, I will arrange a proper occasion to apologize formally later.”
However, Rollard was unyielding.
He burst out laughing and said,
“Can a woman with no background, not even from the academy, who is from the South, really be called a knight just because she wears the uniform of a knight? Are you unaware that your very existence is an insult to this sacred arena and the real knights of the North?”
Radis’s brow twitched at his arrogant words.
Even the servant raised his eyebrows in surprise at his rude speech.
The servant called out to caution him.
“Sir Rollard!”
But Rollard pushed the servant aside and bellowed in a resounding voice.
“I formally challenged you to a duel! Are you going to ignore this too and insult everything all over again?”
There was a reason for Rollard’s aggressive approach. When Joseph Lebeloia ordered Xenon to completely defeat Robert, his squire Rollard was also present.
Preoccupied with picking a fight with Radis, Rollard had not fully grasped the details of the duel and thought that when Xenon made Robert kneel, he would make Radis kneel too.
If that happened, their liege Joseph Lebeloia would be very pleased.
Perhaps this situation could be the perfect opportunity to end his tiresome life as a squire and become a knight himself.
‘Plus, a knight from the South? I can never accept that!’
Rollard couldn’t hold back his irritation and looked down on Radis with contempt.
