Despite a strict no-entry order from the lord, he was, after all, the lord’s son. Furthermore, the Steel Lion Knights had been thoroughly defeated by him four years ago.

Even the servants, as well as the armed knights, were afraid and stepped aside as he approached.

The only person attempting to stop him was the elderly butler.

“You can’t do this, Young Master. Do you even know what day it is? If you ruin today, the lord will never forgive you.”

“Who is ruining anything? I came to congratulate, congratulate.”

Nix, showing no interest, looked clearly annoyed.

The butler, who had grumbled, glanced sideways at a woman who was being dragged by Nix’s rough grip on her wrist.

Even with the extravagant mask, the woman couldn’t hide her striking beauty. She was dressed in a manner that suggested trouble. It was clear that the first young master, who had made a notorious return after wandering the lands, had finally come back with intent.

At that moment, the Duke’s aide appeared, accompanied by several knights.

Before the butler could stop him, Nix lazily spoke.

“Get lost, Knightley. Unless you want to die.”

The aide’s face revealed raw anger and shame as he glared at Nix.

However, Nix did not slow down. He continued walking with his usual large strides. Behind him, the woman, desperately clutching at her fluttering skirt, was being dragged along, nearly stumbling at every step.

“Leave. There’s no seat for you tonight.”

“Get lost.”

“I said, leave. Didn’t you hear me?”

In an instant, Nix’s hand shot out like a flash and stopped right before the aide’s face.

The knights didn”t even have time to draw their swords.

The aide, now pale, stared with wide eyes and trembling pupils.

It was as though he was facing an incomprehensible monster, beads of cold sweat running down his temples. The tremor starting in his gut spread throughout his body.

Nix, with a faint smile curling on his lips, slowly lowered his hand and touched the aide’s tie.

Frowning slightly as the knot refused to cooperate, Nix let out a cold chuckle and lightly patted the aide’s shoulder.

“Why are you so nervous? Are you really afraid I’ll kill you?”

Despite his nonchalant tone, the eyes fixed on the aide were disturbingly wide.

“So, you should just step aside while I speak kindly. How far are you willing to let this humiliation go?”

“…How can a person act like this?”

The aide, who was clearly furious, glared at Nix with an aggrieved eyes.

“If you cared even a little bit about Her Excellency, you wouldn’t be doing this.”

“Well… my mother would probably like to see me. After all, I have a good-looking face, just like her.”

Nix murmured lazily, his eyes curling with jeer.

His smile with slightly raised at the corners, was undeniably mocking.

Unable to stand it any longer, the butler stepped in.

“I’ll inform the banquet that the young master has arrived. Knightley, you should leave now.”

With the situation swiftly defused, the butler rushed to the entrance of the banquet hall while giving orders.

Despite the mixture of fear and disgust directed at him, Nix waited idly for his turn, until he suddenly felt a gentle pull on his sleeve.

Looking down, he saw the delicate hand of Jean with her face concealed by a glittering mask. Her wide eyes gazed at him with a look of confusion.

Perhaps she couldn’t fathom the turn of events, which completely contradicted the reunion she had envisioned with her beloved Gemma.

But Nix, knowing nothing of her thoughts, had no intention of explaining or slowing at a pace she could understand.

From the beginning, he wanted this to happen, and he believed it was inevitable.

“Smile, Jean.”

With the sound of trumpets heralding his arrival, the doors to the banquet hall began to open.

“Everyone is watching you.”

As the door cracked open, brilliant light poured in.

Overwhelmed by the oncoming brightness, Jean instinctively shut her eyes tight.

“…My dear Jean, if you feel like you’re about to fall, you can always lean on me.”

Suddenly, Ernest’s gentle whisper from long ago resurfaced.
