Savage Forest - Chapter 120.1
Caught in Gernan’s grip, Enya gasped and coughed.
The difference in strength was overwhelming. No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn’t break free.
“Let go of her, you b*stard…!”
Silanda rushed in, striking at Gernan’s arm. However, he had already seized her arm, dragging both of them toward the edge of the wide rock.
Finally, he stopped at the edge, where they could see the entire scene below.
It was dark all around. Aside from a few small torches flickering here and there, there was hardly any way to see what was happening.
The air felt damp and chilly.
It was a sign that a heavy rain was about to fall.
“Ehht…!”
Silanda bit down on Gernan’s arm again, but it was futile. She was roughly thrown aside by Gernan. Even as her throat was being strangled, Enya shouted toward Silanda.
“Kuhp, Si, Silanda…!”
Silanda collapsed to the ground and didn’t get up again.
Ignoring her, Gernan forced Enya onto the raised rock, like a platform. He drew a dagger from his trousers, raising it high, and pressed it against her throat as she struggled helplessly.
“Huhp, huohp…!”
Enya’s body stiffened instantly.
Gernan began shouting toward the scene of the fierce battle.
“Everyone, stop and look over here! If you want to see this girl die, keep fighting!”
As the blade pressed against her throat, Enya’s mind went blank. Her feet dangled helplessly in the air.
With all her strength, she clawed at Gernan’s hand with her nails, as if she was scratching the bark of a massive tree. The more she struggled, the tighter his grip became. The cold metal against her neck sent a chill down her spine. It was so painful that she didn’t even notice the attention drawn to her.
Yaru’s group halted when they spotted Enya.
“Enya…!”
As her vision blurred, Yaru’s voice reached her ears.
“Servia…!”
Rigata quickly moved toward Servia and Haron.
Now that Gernan had taken Enya, hostage, it seemed they were also considering using a hostage of their own. However, Servia, whom they believed they had in their grasp, was nowhere to be found. In her place lay Haron, drooling as he clutched a handful of Servia’s long black hair, completely collapsed.
Servia had escaped.
“Bring that old man here!”
Nihitan shouted urgently.
Immediately, Gernan, who was gripping Enya’s neck atop the wide rock, yelled back.
“Are you going to threaten me with that senile old fool? Don’t even think about it!”
He had caught on to Nihitan’s plan to use Haron as leverage to tie his hands. Gernan’s mindset, deeply ingrained as an Aquilea, considered any non-sober old man, regardless of familial ties, as a target for disposal.
“Drop your weapons! If you don’t, the last daughter of the forest you keep talking about will die right here!”
As the blade pressed even tighter against Enya’s throat, red blood began to trickle down her neck.
Yaru’s face turned pale.
If the cornered Gernan truly killed the last daughter of the Nervana forest, all their hardships would be meaningless.
Clang—!
Finally, Yaru was the first to lower her sword. As she did, Nihitan, Rigata, and the rest of the group followed suit, dropping their weapons. Gernan’s soldiers quickly moved to subdue them.
Enya was overcame with despair.
Only Kasar’s group, who were clashing with Gernan’s soldiers, remained unaffected. They continued to guard Rio, still managing to hold back Gernan’s forces.
“What are those guys doing?”
Gernan pressed the dagger closer to Enya’s throat as he shouted. He directed his anger at Kasar’s group, who dared to refuse his orders.
“Can’t you hear me? Drop your weapons, now!”
Yet the desert tribe ignored Gernan’s command.
Enya felt her throat tighten even more. Blood began to drip from her neck onto the wide rock below.
“Kasar…!”
Even though Yaru shouted fiercely toward the desert tribe, Kasar remained utterly unmoved.
“Useless br*ts who don’t know how to listen…!”
Gernan snarled, lifting Enya’s neck higher.
Enya closed her eyes. She feared her head might be severed at any moment.
Thwack—!
At that moment, a cracking sound echoed above Enya’s head and simultaneously, the grip that had been holding her neck loosened.
As she collapsed to the ground, Gernan also stumbled backward.
“Hah…! Hah…!”
Enya lay on the ground, gasping for air.
Silanda stood nearby, breathless, holding a large rock. As blood gushed from Gernan’s head, she brought the rock down on his skull once more, her fury evident.
“Die, you b*stard…!”
Enya crawled backward, distancing herself from Gernan’s body.
From below, the sounds of clashing erupted again. It seemed Yaru’s group was launching a counterattack now that they had seen her freed.
“Lord Gernan…!”
At that moment, one of Gernan’s subordinates lunged at Silanda, who was still kicking Gernan’s face. But this time, she wasn’t going down easily.
As the two struggled and rolled, Silanda shouted to Enya.
“Quick! Free that woman, Fiarca…!”
Without a moment to think, Enya grabbed Gernan’s dagger from the ground and dashed toward the tree where Fiarca, Senu, and Jahan were tied.
The rain was pouring down heavily.
The soldiers had apparently thrown down their torches and were fighting wildly. She couldn’t see ahead of her, so she couldn’t guess what was happening around her. Enya called out Fiarca’s name as she searched in the darkness.
“Fiarca…!”
“Here…! I’ve loosened the bindings!”
Fiarca was already preparing to join the fight at a moment’s notice. After several attempts, she was finally able to free Fiarca’s hands and feet completely. The rain intensified incredibly, making it nearly impossible to see ahead.
Fiarca shouted anxiously.
“If we stay like this, the tree will fall! We need to move Jahan and Senu to a safe place!”
Enya yelled back in haste.
“Si, Silanda is fighting alone!”
“What?!”
As soon as Fiarca was free, she swiftly moved to help Silanda, who was struggling. Enya stayed behind to free Jahan and Senu. Her wet hands kept slipping, making it harder to untie them quickly.
“Jahan! Wake up!”
Jahan, likely under the same drug as Reyhald, struggled to regain consciousness. Eventually, she managed to untie Senu and had to hoist Jahan onto her back, dragging him along.
“Jahan, please wake up…!”
